Your adventure begins with a pickup from your Cairo or Giza hotel at 05:00 AM. To ensure you're ready for the early departure, we recommend ordering a breakfast box from your hotel. From there, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to El Alamein, located 259 km away, about a 3-hour journey, with a coffee break along the way. We will arrive in El Alamein at 08:30.
El Alamein played a crucial role in controlling the North African coast, opening the path to Egypt and vital trade routes to the Far East via the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. During World War II, the Axis powers sought to control Egypt and cut off Britain's sea routes to its empire. Starting in 1940 with the Italian invasion, the coastal town of Al Diffa became a battleground.
El Alamein War Museum: Located about 1 mile west of the British memorial, this small museum is dedicated to the WWII history and memorabilia. It was created in 1965 from debris found on the battlefield and houses a collection of uniforms, weapons, flags, and other war paraphernalia. It’s an insightful stop for history enthusiasts.
El Alamein War Cemetery: Designed by Sir Herbert Worthington, this cemetery is maintained by the British War Graves Commission in Cairo. It holds the graves of 7,367 soldiers from Britain, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, India, and Malaysia. Another 11,945 men are honored in the memorial, their names inscribed on the cloister before the cemetery.
German War Memorial: Located 3 kilometers west of the Italian Memorial, this octagonal building, erected in 1959, commemorates the 4,280 German soldiers who died here. The memorial includes a chapel where families pay their respects with wreaths and photographs.
Italian Memorial: The largest structure at El Alamein, the elegant Italian Memorial stands 5 kilometers beyond the German Memorial. Designed by Paolo Caccia Dominoni, it features a museum and chapel honoring the 4,800 Italian soldiers, sailors, and airmen who died here.
A light lunch shall be served en route to Siwa oasis, where we’ll end the day by enjoying the stunning sunset at Fatnas Lake. Fatnas is a small island in Birket Siwa oasis, where you can walk or bike to the island and admire the breathtaking view of the lake, with the Gebel Bayda and Gebel Hamra mountains as the backdrop. The lush garden showcases various trees, including banana, date, and olive trees.
Dinner shall be served in a restaurant in Siwa oasis, followed by a restful overnight stay at Ghaliet Ecolodge, a unique spa ecolodge located near Amoun Temple and Alexander the Great's Oracle. For the best swimming experience, look for the clearest waters and be sure to rinse off with mineral water after your swim.
Afterward, we will visit Cleopatra's Bath, famously linked to the Egyptian queen. According to legend, Cleopatra swam here, and the Spring of the Sun continues to be a popular attraction for those seeking to experience its historical charm.
Proceed to the Temple of Umm Ubaydah (Amun Temple), located just 200 meters from the Oracle Temple. This structure, built by Pharaoh Nectanebo of the 30th Dynasty, was unfortunately destroyed in 1896 by an Ottoman governor seeking building materials. However, the inscribed wall remains, offering a glimpse into the temple's past glory.
Around 12:00, enjoy a traditional Siwa oasisn lunch at Abdo Restaurant, where you can taste authentic local cuisine.
The adventure continues as you explore the vast Great Sand Sea on a 4x4 Jeep safari. Experience sandboarding on the towering sand dunes-one of the best spots for this thrilling activity in Egypt. You’ll also visit Bir Waheed, famous for its hot and cold springs, adding to the desert oasis’s mystique and healing energy.

After enjoying breakfast at 07:00 am at the desert camp, we'll begin the journey back to Siwa oasis Oasis. The fortress served as the center of life in Siwa oasis Oasis for over 800 years, housing both people and animals within its maze of mud-brick structures. The fort was constructed using large chunks of salt, which helped reinforce the walls. Although it faced significant weather damage over time, the fortress remains an iconic symbol of Siwa oasisn culture. Today, parts of the fortress have been restored, and some houses within it have even been converted into guest accommodations. The Shali Fortress mosque is still in use.
Next, we will visit Gebel Al-Mawta (Mountain of the Dead), located just over a kilometer north of Shali. This conical mountain features Ptolemaic, Roman, and 26th Dynasty tombs, including the stunning Tomb of Si Amun, one of the most beautiful tombs in the Siwa oasis Oasis. The tomb showcases exquisite Egyptian art, including a painting of the Nut goddess standing beside a sycamore tree. It is believed that Si Amun may have been a wealthy Egyptian of Greek origin who adhered to ancient Egyptian beliefs.
After exploring these ancient wonders, we will head towards Marsa Matrouh for a scenic lunch stop. As we drive along the Mediterranean coast, you'll witness the stunning white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, which many believe Cleopatra herself once bathed in.
