Egypt 7-Day Tour Itinerary: Cairo, Luxor & Aswan

After breakfast, travel to Giza for a guided visit to Giza's pyramid complex. Your Egyptologist explains how the pyramids were planned, built and used as royal tombs while you walk through the main viewpoints and have time for photographs. The visit continues to the Great Sphinx, where the human-headed lion faces the ancient temple area below the plateau.

Later, return to central Cairo for the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. The galleries contain statues, coffins, jewellery and everyday objects from several periods of Egyptian history. Your guide helps place the key pieces in context rather than rushing through every room.

Allow most of the day for these visits, since road conditions can affect the transfer between Giza and central Cairo. Wear comfortable shoes, carry water and follow your guide's instructions around uneven ground and crowded museum areas.

Overnight in Cairo.

Begin in Historic Cairo, where your guide leads you through a compact area of mosques, old lanes and early Islamic monuments. The pace is on foot, with short vehicle transfers where useful. Modest clothing is appropriate for religious sites, and shoes may need to be removed before entering some prayer spaces.

The route continues to the Muhammad Ali Mosque inside the Citadel of Cairo. From the courtyard and surrounding viewpoints, you can look across much of the city when visibility allows. Your guide explains the mosque's Ottoman design and the role of the Citadel in Cairo's history.

Later, spend time in the historic marketplace, where small shops sell spices, metalwork, textiles and souvenirs. Browsing is part of the experience; you are not required to buy. Agree on meeting points before walking through the busier lanes, then return to your hotel for a final Cairo evening.

Overnight in Cairo.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport or railway station for the journey from Cairo to Luxor, according to the confirmed arrangements for your package. On arrival, our team meets you and transfers you to your hotel. Keep essentials in a small day bag because the main luggage transfer and check-in can take time after the journey.

Your first Luxor visit is the Karnak sanctuary complex. Walk through the monumental gateways and the Great Hypostyle Hall while your guide explains how successive pharaohs expanded the site over many centuries. The scale is easier to appreciate at a steady pace, with time to pause in shaded areas where available.

Continue to Luxor Temple, where colonnades, statues and inscriptions show how the temple connected royal ceremony with the ancient city. Seeing it after Karnak gives the east-bank visits a clear sequence. The remaining evening is free for rest.

Overnight in Luxor.

Cross the Nile in the morning for Luxor's west bank. The first stop is the Valley of the Kings necropolis, where your ticket normally permits entry to a selection of open tombs. Your guide explains the painted corridors and burial traditions, while you walk through dry, uneven passages that can feel warm inside. Additional tombs may require a separate ticket.

Continue to Hatshepsut Temple, the terraced monument built against the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari. The ramps and surviving reliefs show how the temple was arranged for processions and offerings. The site involves outdoor walking and some exposed steps, so a hat, water and comfortable footwear are useful.

Before returning across the river, stop at the Memnon Colossi statues. These large seated figures once guarded the entrance to a temple complex and make a brief, practical final visit on the west-bank route.

Return to Luxor for an afternoon at leisure and prepare for the onward journey to Aswan.

Travel from Luxor to Aswan after breakfast by the arranged domestic connection or road transfer. The journey takes much of the morning, so carry snacks, water and anything needed during transit. On arrival, check in or leave luggage with the hotel before beginning the afternoon visits.

Visit the High Dam structure, an important modern project that changed flood control, electricity production and settlement patterns along the Nile. Your guide explains the wider effect of the dam before you continue by boat to the island setting of the Philae Temple. The boat crossing depends on local operating conditions, and the temple visit includes open courtyards, columns and reliefs dedicated to Isis.

Later, visit Nubian settlements near Aswan to see brightly painted homes, local streets and daily life along the river. The visit is arranged respectfully, with time to listen to your local host and browse small handmade items if you wish.

Overnight in Aswan. An early departure is planned for Abu Simbel the next day.

Leave Aswan early for the road journey to the Abu Simbel sanctuaries. The drive takes several hours each way, so this is a long final sightseeing day; our team confirms the departure arrangements and the practical meeting point in advance. Bring breakfast or snacks, water, sun protection and only the essentials you need for the visit.

At Abu Simbel, walk toward the rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari. Your guide explains the enormous seated figures, the interior chambers and the relocation of the temples during the construction of the High Dam. Photography rules can vary inside the monuments, so follow the site's instructions and allow time for security checks.

Return to Aswan after the visit. Depending on your onward travel schedule, we transfer you to the airport, railway station or your next accommodation. If your departure is later in the day, luggage storage and a short rest period can be discussed with our team, but the final timing depends on your confirmed connection.
