After breakfast, transfer to Cairo airport for the flight south to Luxor. On arrival, our representative takes you to the cruise vessel, where the crew assists with check-in and luggage. Once settled, you can have lunch on board and take in your first views of the river from the deck.

The Nile River Cruise Experience begins with Luxor's east bank. Visit Karnak Temple, a vast complex of pylons, courts and columns built over many centuries. The ship continues south after breakfast, and the changing river scenery becomes part of the day. At Edfu, travel to the temple by local carriage or vehicle according to the arrangements in place. Arrive in Aswan and begin with the Aswan High Dam, an important modern engineering project that changed agriculture, electricity production and the shape of the river's annual flow. Your guide places the project in context before you continue to the nearby Philae Temple area.

Reach Philae by boat, crossing to the island where the temple complex was relocated to protect it from rising water after the dam was built. Leave Aswan early for the road journey to the Abu Simbel Temples. Border and ferry procedures can take time, so keep your passport accessible and expect a full day with an early start and a late return. At Petra Ancient City, walk through the Siq, a narrow gorge that leads to the Treasury. Continue into the main archaeological area to see carved facades, the Street of Facades, the theatre and the remains of the Colonnaded Street. The walking route includes uneven stone, inclines and exposed sections; supportive shoes, water and sun protection are important. Travellers who need a slower pace should discuss the route with the guide before entering.

After the visit, retrace the route through the Siq and begin the return journey to Sharm El Sheikh. Immigration and transport timings can vary, so there is no late-night sightseeing planned after arrival. Rest at the hotel overnight.
