Description

This 10-day Egypt tour with Fayoum, a Nile cruise and Hurghada brings ancient monuments, desert scenery and time on the Red Sea into one route. You begin in Cairo, continue to the small village of Tunis and Wadi El Hitan in Fayoum, then follow the Nile from Luxor to Aswan before spending four nights in Hurghada. The itinerary keeps the main arrangements together, including transfers, guides and accommodation, so you do not have to organise each part separately.

In Cairo, you have time to settle in before visiting the capital’s main sights with our team. The Giza area is the main highlight, while Cairo itself adds museums, old neighbourhoods and busy streets where daily life carries on around you. Transport connects the stops, and your guide explains the history behind the monuments instead of leaving you with a series of labels to decipher alone.

Fayoum gives the trip a different pace. In the small village of Tunis, known locally as ‘Izbat Tunis, you see a quieter side of Egypt, with pottery workshops, rural views and a setting near the lake. The excursion to Wadi El Hitan, the Valley of the Whales, takes you into open desert with fossil remains from ancient whales. The ground is exposed and can be hot, so comfortable clothes, sun protection and sensible shoes are useful.

In Luxor, four days on the Nile give you time to relax between guided visits. The boat is your base as the river connects one archaeological site with the next. In the west bank hills, the Valley of the Kings contains decorated royal tombs cut into the rock, while Queen Hatshepsut Temple sits against the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari. On the east bank, a guide helps you read the courtyards, columns and long history of Karnak Temple.

The cruise heads south through palms, cultivated fields and villages along the river. At Edfu, the well-preserved Temple of Horus shows the scale and layout of a Ptolemaic temple clearly. Kom Ombo is unusual because its sanctuary was dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Horus the Elder. These stops let you see the archaeological sites between Luxor and Aswan without packing up and changing hotels each night.

Aswan slows the pace again, with several important sights to visit. You see the Aswan Dam and visit Philae Temple, set on an island and reached by boat when the visit is operating as planned. An excursion to Abu Simbel can be included in this part of the itinerary, subject to the transport arrangements for your departure date. The large rock-cut temples are best reached with an early start, and our team explains the logistics beforehand.

After the cruise, four nights in Hurghada give you time to rest beside the Red Sea. You can swim, take it easy or arrange optional sea activities, depending on conditions and your interests. There is no fixed programme for every hour, which makes this beach stay a useful pause after several days of temples, walking and early starts. Your accommodation and transfers are arranged as part of the package.

This tour suits travellers looking for a broad first view of Egypt and who are comfortable combining guided visits, road transfers, boat travel and free time. Some sites have uneven ground, steps and direct sun, so the itinerary may not suit travellers who need completely step-free access. Our team coordinates the transport, accommodation, cruise arrangements and licensed Egyptologist guides, and gives you the practical details for each excursion before you set out. Bring a refillable water bottle, modest clothing for temple visits and a small day bag for the cruise and desert excursions.

Your Itinerary

Arrive in Cairo, where our representative meets you at the airport and helps with the arrival formalities before your transfer to the hotel. The drive into the city gives you a first look at Cairo’s broad avenues, busy neighbourhoods and familiar skyline. Once you have checked in, the rest of the day is free for rest after your journey.

Our team remains available to help with practical arrangements, including confirming the following day’s excursion and answering questions about the tour. Keep your evening easy; the programme begins in earnest tomorrow with a full-day visit to Fayoum. Depending on your arrival time, you may have space for a short walk or a relaxed meal near the hotel, but no sightseeing is scheduled today.

Overnight: Cairo. Your airport transfer, assistance on arrival and accommodation are arranged as part of the tour.

After breakfast, leave Cairo for Fayoum, an oasis region known for its desert landscapes, lakes and rural communities. The day’s main visit is Wadi El Hitan, the Valley of the Whales, where fossil remains show how early whales lived in an ancient sea. The open desert setting and museum displays make the site easy to understand without rushing between monuments.

Continue to The small village of Tunis, a pottery village on the edge of Lake Qarun. Walk through its quiet lanes, see the local ceramic tradition and take in the change from the city to the cultivated land and open desert around Fayoum. Lunch arrangements and the pace of the visit depend on the day’s route and local conditions.

Return to Cairo in the afternoon or evening. The drive is a substantial part of the day, so comfortable clothing, sun protection and water are useful. You spend your second Cairo night before travelling south tomorrow.

Travel from Cairo to Luxor by the arranged domestic transfer, then meet our team for the move to the cruise boat. After settling into your cabin, begin with Luxor’s East Bank and Karnak Temple. Its courtyards, pylons and great columns were built and enlarged by successive pharaohs, so your guide can explain how the complex developed over time rather than treating it as a single monument.

Return to the boat for lunch or a short rest, depending on the day’s transport schedule. The afternoon is a good time to become familiar with the vessel, enjoy the Nile views from the deck and prepare for the sailing days ahead. Your guide will also explain the order of visits, meal times and any early starts.

This begins the three-night cruise between Luxor and Aswan. It is a comfortable way of enjoying four days Nile Cruise tours to relax while the river carries you through Upper Egypt, with sightseeing arranged around the boat’s sailing schedule.

Cross to Luxor’s West Bank after breakfast for the Valley of the Kings. Here, tombs were cut into the desert hills for New Kingdom rulers, and your guide explains the painted scenes, burial beliefs and conservation work visible inside the selected open tombs. The number of tombs open can vary, and each visit follows the access arrangements on the day.

Continue to Queen Hatshepsut temple, the terraced monument built against the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari. Its broad levels and reliefs tell the story of Hatshepsut’s reign and trading expeditions. The site is reached on foot from the vehicle area, so a hat, water and practical footwear help in the heat.

Return to the boat for lunch before it sails south. Spend the later hours watching villages, farmland and desert banks pass from the deck. The evening is on board, with time to rest after the morning’s walking.

Begin with a visit to Edfu, reached from the boat by the arranged local transfer. The Temple of Horus is one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient temples, with a massive entrance, long inscriptions and detailed reliefs of the gods and royal ceremonies. Your guide brings the plan of the temple to life before you return to the boat.

After lunch, continue sailing towards Kom Ombo. The temple sits beside the river and has an unusual double design, dedicated to Sobek and Horus the Elder. Look for the carved medical instruments and the crocodile imagery as you walk through the remaining courts and halls.

Back on board, the cruise continues towards Aswan. This is one of the quieter sightseeing days, with time to read, rest on deck or watch the shoreline change as the Nile narrows. The boat remains your base for the night.

Disembark in Aswan and visit the Philae Temple (Phila temple), reached by boat across the water to its island setting. The sanctuary was dedicated mainly to Isis and was relocated during the construction of the High Dam, a major engineering project that changed the river and protected many ancient sites from flooding. Continue to the Aswan Dam for views across the reservoir and an explanation of its role in modern Egypt.

If included in the day’s agreed schedule, continue by road to Abu Simbel. The rock-cut temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari are known for their enormous façades and carefully carved interior halls. This is a long sightseeing day, with an early start and extended road travel.

After the Aswan visits, transfer by road to Hurghada. Arrival time depends on the route and the duration of the Abu Simbel visit. Check in and rest after reaching the Red Sea.

Wake in Hurghada and enjoy a slower morning after the long transfer from Upper Egypt. This coastal resort sits beside the Red Sea, so the day is arranged around rest, open time and the facilities available at your accommodation. You can relax by the water, take a walk or arrange an optional marine excursion through our team.

Travellers who choose a boat or snorkelling outing should expect a short transfer to the marina, a briefing from the crew and time on the water. Sea activities depend on local conditions and are paid separately unless your booking specifically states otherwise. Non-swimmers can still enjoy the coast from the boat or spend the day on land.

There is no fixed sightseeing circuit today. Our team can help with practical questions, meeting points and return arrangements so you can use the day at a comfortable pace. Overnight in Hurghada.

Your second full Hurghada day is left open for the Red Sea experience that suits you. A relaxed beach day needs little planning: have breakfast, spend time by the shore and keep the warmest part of the afternoon easy. If you prefer activity, ask our team about available snorkelling, diving or boat excursions in the surrounding waters.

Excursion schedules are set locally and may include a transfer to the marina, safety instructions and several hours at sea. Bring sun protection, a cover-up and any personal medication you need. The exact route and stops depend on the conditions and the operator’s arrangements on the day.

Those who would rather stay on land can explore Hurghada independently or simply rest at the accommodation. We keep the day flexible because travellers arrive with different energy levels after the Cairo, Fayoum and Nile sections of the itinerary.

Spend your final full day in Hurghada with time for another Red Sea activity or a quiet break before departure. You might choose a second boat outing, return to a favourite stretch of coast or keep the day free for reading and swimming. Our team can confirm the meeting point and expected return time for any optional excursion you arrange.

This is also a useful day to organise luggage, check travel documents and keep souvenirs protected for the journey home. If you have been on the water, allow time to return, shower and rest rather than planning a late, complicated schedule.

In the evening, confirm your departure details with our representative. Your final Hurghada night is included in the tour, and the following day is reserved for the airport transfer and departure arrangements.

After breakfast, check out according to the accommodation’s departure procedure and meet our representative for your transfer to Hurghada Airport. We allow practical time for the drive and airport check-in, while the exact pickup time is set around your confirmed flight details.

Keep your passport, travel documents, medication and valuables in your hand luggage. Our team can help with the final transfer and point you towards the correct airport procedures, but airline check-in and baggage rules remain with the airline.

Your ten-day Egypt itinerary ends in Hurghada after the Fayoum desert and village visit, the Nile cruise through Upper Egypt and several days beside the Red Sea. If you are continuing to another destination, tell our team in advance so the final transfer plan is clear.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Egypt itinerary includes 2 nights in Cairo, a visit to Wadi El Hitan and the small village of Tunis in Fayoum, 3 nights on a Nile cruise, sightseeing in Luxor and Aswan, and 4 nights in Hurghada. The route is designed to combine Egypt’s main ancient sites with time beside the Red Sea.

Your booking confirmation will show the included accommodation, transfers, guide services and meals for your selected package. The sightseeing plan covers places such as Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Philae Temple, the Aswan Dam and Abu Simbel.

This is planned as a 10-day Egypt itinerary, with 2 Cairo nights, 3 nights enjoying Nile cruise tours to relax, a Fayoum visit and 4 nights in Hurghada. The schedule includes active sightseeing days, balanced by time on the ship and at the Red Sea.

You will discover many archaeological treasures between Luxor and Aswan in a set order, including Edfu and Kom Ombo. Some days begin early, especially for temple visits or Abu Simbel, so the itinerary suits travellers who want to see Egypt’s top highlights without changing hotels every night.

Our team arranges the planned pickups and transfers between Cairo, Fayoum, the Nile cruise embarkation point, Aswan, Luxor and Hurghada according to your confirmed itinerary. A representative meets you at the agreed airport, hotel or port location and explains the next part of the journey.

Transfer details depend on your arrival and departure arrangements, so we confirm the locations and timings before travel. The route may include road transfers between the cruise, Hurghada and Cairo, with stops arranged around the sightseeing programme.

This Egypt tour can suit families and many travellers with moderate mobility, but temple grounds, desert areas and ancient sites often involve uneven surfaces, steps, walking and heat. The cruise and Hurghada sections provide slower periods, while visits to Luxor, Aswan, Fayoum and Wadi El Hitan require more movement.

Tell us about children’s ages, walking limitations, wheelchair use or other needs before booking. We can explain the access conditions at the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut Temple, Karnak Temple and the desert sites so you can judge the itinerary comfortably.

Pack light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, a hat, swimwear and a light layer for cooler evenings or air-conditioned transport. Modest clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is respectful and practical when visiting temples, mosques or local communities such as Tunis in Fayoum.

Bring any required medication, a refillable water bottle and personal travel documents. For Wadi El Hitan and other outdoor visits, closed shoes and extra sun protection are useful; Hurghada also suits travellers who want time for swimming or Red Sea activities.

You can request this tour by sending our team your preferred travel dates, traveller details and arrival information; we then confirm the itinerary, availability and booking terms before payment. Cancellation conditions depend on the travel date, services reserved and the terms shown with your booking.

Read those conditions carefully before confirming, particularly for the Nile cruise, domestic or long-distance transfers and accommodation. If your plans change, contact us as soon as possible so we can explain the available options without promising changes that suppliers may not allow.
