Travel by 4x4 through the desert landscapes around Bahariya, beginning with dark volcanic hills and wide valleys before continuing towards The white desert. The route includes stops for photographs and short walks, but the exact sequence can change with track conditions and the advice of the local desert driver.

In the white limestone area, wind-shaped rocks rise from the pale ground in unusual forms. Your guide points out how erosion created the shapes and explains why the landscape looks different from the darker desert visited earlier. There is no paved visitor centre here, so expect a simple outdoor experience with limited facilities.

As daylight fades, the team sets up camp and prepares dinner. Evening temperatures can be cool, even after a warm day, so bring a fleece or jacket. The next morning begins early enough to see the desert in changing light before returning towards the oasis.

After breakfast, return from the desert area towards Cairo, with a route through Fayoum Governorate. The day's main visit is Wadi el Hitan, the Valley of the Whales, a protected desert site known for fossilised whale remains that record how this land changed from an ancient sea into an inland desert.

The museum and marked paths help you understand the fossils without needing a long hike. Your guide explains the significance of the skeletons and the site's conservation rules. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. The evening is free for dinner or rest. Your guide confirms the next day's west-bank plan, including the early departure needed for the cooler part of the morning and the order of the archaeological visits.

Cross the Nile early for a full visit to Luxor's west bank. Start at The valley of Kings, where royal tombs were cut into the limestone hills. Afterward, return to the hotel or spend time nearby before preparing for the next day's transfer to Marsa Alam.

After breakfast, begin the overland transfer from Luxor to Marsa Alam on the Red Sea coast. The road leaves the Nile Valley and crosses increasingly open desert before reaching the coast. On arrival, check in and take time to settle into your accommodation. The change of pace is clear: the archaeological schedule gives way to sea air, open space and unhurried time. If you arrive early enough, you can walk along the shore or relax rather than adding a demanding activity.
