Your Itinerary

  • 1) Day 1: Arrival and Cairo Introduction

Our Marsa Alam tour specialist will greet and support you upon arrival at Cairo International Airport. We arrange private air-conditioned transportation to your hotel. Enjoy a leisurely evening to settle in. Accommodation depends on arrival timing. Early arrivals can contact us for optional activities in the city.

  • 2) Day 2: Pyramids and Museum Exploration

Our guide will pick you up from your Cairo hotel for a magnificent excursion to The Pyramids of Giza including Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure complexes. Next visit the imposing Great Sphinx dating to pharaonic times, and the Valley Temple. Lunch will be offered at a traditional restaurant near the Giza plateau. Continue to the Egyptian Museum housing over 250,000 authentic artifacts spanning 5,000 years of civilization. The museum features an extraordinary Tutankhamen exhibition with royal treasures, golden artifacts, and ceremonial items discovered in 1922. For the Royal Mummy Hall visit, an additional fee of 200 Egyptian Pounds applies, payable separately. The new Grand Egyptian Museum is under development. Return to your Cairo hotel for the evening. An optional sound-and-light performance at the Giza Pyramids is available for an additional $40 per person.

  • 3) Day 3: Alexandria Discovery

Depart at 7:00 a.m. on your private tour towards Alexandria with our Egyptologist guide. The drive covers 220 km northwest from Cairo by air-conditioned transport, arriving by mid-morning. Begin your Alexandria exploration by visiting Alexandria 's most celebrated landmarks. Explore The Roman Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa , believed to date from the 2nd century AD when Egypt's great mixture of cultures flourished. The Pompey's Pillar stands 25 meters tall and represents the tallest ancient monument in Alexandria, originally erected in honor of Emperor Diocletian. The Citadel of Qaitbay, built in the 15th century by Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay, stands as a magnificent Islamic fortress constructed using remnants of an ancient lighthouse that once served Egypt's Ptolemaic rulers. Enjoy lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant. Visit the Library of Alexandria , reborn in October 2002 as a modern homage to antiquity, now functioning as a cultural complex dedicated to learning and intercultural dialogue. Check into your hotel for an overnight stay in Alexandria.

  • 4) Day 4: El Alamein and Siwa Arrival

Morning departure from your Alexandria hotel at 7:00 a.m., traveling south to El Alamein , a vital North African coastal position that controlled strategic trade routes during World War II. The Axis powers sought dominance over Egypt to block British sea routes to their empire. Beginning in 1940, intense battles took place at this location. The El Alamein Museum displays artifacts and memorabilia from the conflict, established in 1965 from battlefield discoveries. The El Alamein War Cemetery, designed by Sir Herbert Worthington and maintained by the British War Graves Commission, contains individual graves for 7,367 soldiers from Britain, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Greece, France, India, and Malaysia, with 11,945 additional honored names in the memorial cloister. The German War Memorial, an octagonal structure built in 1959, holds the remains of 4,280 German soldiers. The Italian Memorial, the most impressive structure on site, honors 4,800 Italian servicemen, designed by Paolo Caccia Dominioni who served at El-Alamein. A light lunch will be provided en route. Experience the magnificent sunset at Fatnas Lake, a small island in Birket Siwa where Gebel Bayda and Hamra form a stunning western backdrop. A garden walk reveals diverse flora including banana, date, and olive trees. Dinner will be served at a Siwa restaurant. Overnight at Ghaliet Ecolodge, an exclusive spa ecolodge situated near the Amun Temple, featuring 12 uniquely designed rooms among palm groves, organic cuisine, and wellness programs.

Experience a memorable night in Siwa

  • 5) Day 5: Siwa Oasis Exploration and Desert Adventure

Hotel breakfast followed by 7:00 a.m. pickup. Visit Siwa's premier attractions beginning with Alexander the Great Temple , also known as the Oracle Temple. Legend holds that Alexander sought confirmation from the Siwan oracle that he was son of Zeus during his journey across the desert.

Proceed to the hypersaline lakes where the mineral-rich waters create natural buoyancy, allowing effortless floating regardless of swimming ability. Use caution to avoid salt water contact with eyes, as it causes discomfort. The salt composition rivals the Dead Sea's therapeutic properties. Bring mineral water for post-swim rinsing. At 11:00 a.m., visit Cleopatra's Spring, a freshwater source celebrated by historical travelers, associated with Cleopatra's bathing rituals. Continue to Umm Ubaydah Temple, also called Amun Temple, situated 200 meters beyond the Oracle Temple. Constructed by Pharaoh Nectanebo of the 30th Dynasty, this structure suffered significant damage when dynamited in 1896 by an Ottoman official seeking building material. Only inscribed wall sections remain visible. Scholars have reconstructed details using pioneer explorer sketches.

12:00 noon: Traditional Siwan meal at Abdo restaurant.

Desert adventure follows, exploring the Great Sand Sea by 4×4 jeep with sandboarding on Egypt's finest dunes near Siwa. Visit hot and cold springs at Bir Waheed. Savor traditional Bedouin tea at sunset. Overnight in a desert camp with evening barbecue.

Hotel accommodation available as alternative to camping.

  • 6) Day 6: Return Journey via Marsa Matrouh

Breakfast at 7:00 a.m. at the camp, then return to Siwa Oasis to visit Shali Fortress. This fortified structure built on a hilltop within protective walls served the oasis population for approximately 8 centuries. Residents lived in narrow quarters, herding livestock into the fortress nightly. Massive salt deposits abundant in Siwa were used in construction, reinforcing the walls. Rainfall has proven more damaging to this fortress than any human invasion. Proceed to Gebel Al Mawta (Mountain of the Dead), a conical peak one kilometer north of Shali containing tombs from the 26th Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods carved into the mountainside. Four tombs merit special attention, with the Si Amun Tomb being the finest in Siwa. Si Amun was evidently a wealthy Egyptian, possibly Greek-descended, but faithful to ancient Egyptian beliefs. The tomb contains Egyptian pantheon imagery, featuring an exquisite painting of the goddess Nut beside a sycamore tree. Drive toward Cairo , pausing at Marsa Matrouh for lunch. This Mediterranean resort showcases sandy white beaches and pristine waters where legend suggests Cleopatra herself bathed. Arrive in Cairo by 20:00 for an overnight stay.

  • 7) Day 7: Departure

You will receive transfer arrangements to Hurghada airport for your international flight. Should you wish to extend your Cairo stay, please reach out to our team for additional arrangements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Siwa Oasis stands as a remote and exceptional desert sanctuary nestled in Egypt's Western Desert near the Libyan frontier, inhabited by the ancient Berber Siwi community preserving their distinct language and cultural heritage. Renowned for the Oracle Temple where Alexander the Great was designated Amun's son, Cleopatra's breathtaking natural spring, crystalline salt lakes, endless golden sand dunes, profound archaeological remnants, and luminous night skies filled with countless stars. No other Egyptian location compares to Siwa's extraordinary character.

The journey from Cairo to Siwa utilizes private climate-controlled 4×4 vehicles for an approximately 8–9 hour desert highway adventure, traversing through Alexandria and Egypt's northern coastal region. Alternative travelers may opt for overnight coach transport departing Cairo, arriving at dawn. Our recommendation favors the private vehicle for enhanced comfort, personalized pacing, and planned stops for exploration and refreshment.

Siwa presents: Oracle Amun Temple and Shali fortress archaeological exploration, floating effortlessly in Cleopatra's Spring and crystalline freshwater reservoirs, thrilling sandboarding and dune traversal in the Great Sand Sea via 4×4, contemplating sunsets from Dakrour mountain, spa ecolodge accommodation, nocturnal desert stargazing experiences, and appreciating Siwi artisanal traditions alongside the market for locally-pressed olive oil. Siwa delivers an experience fundamentally unlike any other destination in Egypt.

Bring airy, oversized garments for scorching daytime heat (30–40°C summer, 20–28°C spring/autumn), plus insulating layers for unexpectedly frigid desert evenings (potentially 5–10°C winter). Include a protective head scarf or shemagh against sandstorms, sturdy walking footwear, a reliable flashlight, broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50+), and a refillable water vessel. Siwa maintains conservative values—respectful attire in town demonstrates cultural consideration.
