Egypt 9-Day Tour with Pyramids & Nile Cruise

After breakfast, your Egyptologist guide will take you to the Pyramids of Giza. Begin on the Giza Plateau with the Great Pyramid of Cheops, then continue to the pyramids of Chephren and Mykerinus. Your guide will explain how these enormous royal tombs were planned, built and used, while allowing time for photographs from the main viewpoints.

Continue to the Sphinx, whose lion body and human head face across the plateau. You will also see the Valley Temple, built from large blocks of stone and linked to the royal funerary complex. The site involves walking over uneven ground, so comfortable shoes, sun protection and water are useful. After the visit, return to Cairo for a relaxed evening.

Today focuses on Cairo’s ancient collections and historic religious quarter. Begin at the Cairo museum, where galleries hold statues, jewellery, funerary objects and everyday items from several periods of Egyptian history. Your guide will place the main pieces in context, including the royal treasures associated with Tutankhamun, while the visit unfolds at a manageable pace.

Later, continue to Old Cairo to see its historic churches, mosques and narrow streets. The area reflects the city’s layered religious history, and your guide will point out the architectural details that are easy to miss when walking alone. This is your last Cairo night before the early transfer to Aswan, so the evening remains free for dinner and preparation for the next stage.

After breakfast, transfer to Cairo airport for the flight to Aswan. On arrival, our team will meet you and take you to the boat for check-in. Once settled, you can have lunch on board and begin to adjust to the slower rhythm of the river. Cabin access and the exact schedule depend on the boat’s operating arrangements, but our team will explain everything on arrival.

In the afternoon, visit Philae Temple on Agilkia Island. A short motorboat crossing brings you to the temple complex, dedicated mainly to Isis, where courtyards, columns and reliefs follow the island’s ancient sacred layout. Return to the boat for dinner and your first night on the Three Nights Nile Cruise. Keep essential items in a small day bag for shore visits, as the boat remains your base for the next three nights.

The boat sails north after breakfast, with time to watch the Nile landscape change from the deck. Date palms, cultivated fields and villages line parts of the river, while the desert comes close in other stretches. Your guide will keep you informed about the day’s shore visit and the time needed to return to the boat.

Later, visit Kom Ombo Temple, an unusual double sanctuary dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. Its mirrored design gives the visit a clear structure, and the reliefs include medical instruments and religious scenes. After exploring the courts and columns, return to the boat for meals and an evening sailing segment. The pace is easy, with most luggage left in your cabin.

Travel by local carriage or arranged transfer from the boat to Edfu Temple, depending on the day’s operating conditions. The temple is dedicated to Horus and is one of the best-preserved large temples in Egypt. Pass through the monumental pylon, enter the columned halls and look for the detailed reliefs that describe rituals and the conflict between Horus and Seth.

Return to the boat for breakfast or the scheduled meal service, then spend part of the day sailing towards Luxor. There is time to rest, read or sit on deck as the river passes by. The final night on board is usually a good opportunity to organise your belongings for disembarkation and confirm the following day’s land excursions with our team.

After breakfast, leave the cruise boat and begin your Luxor sightseeing with the West Bank. Visit the Valley of the Kings, where tombs were cut into the limestone hills for New Kingdom rulers. Your guide will explain how the passages and burial chambers were decorated, and you will enter the tombs included in the day’s visit. Conditions inside can be warm, with sloping floors and steps.

Continue to the Colossi of Memnon for a short stop and then travel to your Luxor accommodation. The afternoon is left open for rest after the morning’s walking and disembarkation. Our team will handle the transfer of luggage and explain the next day’s plan, including the drive to Dendera. You spend the night in Luxor, close to the route for the following excursion.

Travel by road to Dendera, north of Luxor, for a guided visit to the Temple of Hathor. The complex is known for its broad hypostyle hall, carved astronomical ceiling and well-preserved reliefs. Your Egyptologist will explain the temple’s connection with music, motherhood and the night sky, while you examine the colour and detail that remain in several sheltered areas.

Return to Luxor for the East Bank sights, including Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. At Karnak, walk through the great courts and the immense columned hall; at Luxor Temple, see the sanctuary and processional layout closer to the modern city. The visits involve walking on stone surfaces, so comfortable footwear is recommended. Return to your accommodation for your final night in Egypt.
