First, you will visit the iconic Pyramids of Giza, including the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the Pyramid of Chephren, and the Pyramid of Mykerinus. Next, head to the Great Sphinx, a magnificent statue dating back to the time of the ancient pharaohs. Explore the nearby Valley Temple, where ancient rituals were performed.
In the afternoon, continue your journey with a visit to the world-famous Egyptian Museum in Cairo. This museum houses a rare collection of over 250,000 authentic artifacts, some dating back more than 5,000 years. A highlight of the museum is the exclusive exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamun, showcasing incredible treasures, gold, and jewelry that were buried with the young king for over 3,500 years before being discovered in 1920 during the excavation of his tomb.
After a full day of exploration, enjoy an overnight stay in Cairo, reflecting on the wonders of ancient Egypt.
3) Day 3- Old Cairo and Islamic Cairo:
After breakfast, your Egyptologist tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Giza for an 8-hour excursion. Start with a visit to the historic Khan El Khalili Bazaar, a vibrant market full of traditional stalls and a maze of narrow streets. Then, head to the Saladin Citadel, built by Salah al-Din in 1183 AD as a defense against Crusaders. This fortress offers stunning views of Cairo and houses important historic sites, including the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha. Designed by Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq, the mosque’s striking alabaster exterior contrasts beautifully with the city’s sandstone buildings.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Old Cairo, followed by visits to key attractions such as the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, Church of St. Barbara, and the Church of Abu Serga, one of the oldest Coptic churches in Cairo. Next, explore the bustling Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest and most famous markets in the Middle East. In the evening, you’ll be transferred to Cairo Airport for a short flight to Aswan, where you’ll spend the night at the Basmatic Hotel.
This full day of exploring Islamic Cairo, Coptic Cairo, and the Khan El Khalili Bazaar will give you a deep dive into the rich history and culture of Egypt.
4) Day 4- Aswan Attractions and Nile Cruise:
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan and take you to the Nile Cruise. Begin your day by exploring the iconic Aswan attractions, starting with the Temple of Philae. Built to honor the goddess Isis, this stunning temple is the last to be constructed in the classical Egyptian style around 690 BC. Next, enjoy a Felucca boat tour around Elephantine Island, a beautiful spot on the Nile.
Your tour continues with a visit to the impressive High Dam, a rock-fill dam located on the border between Egypt and Sudan. The dam is fed by the Nile River and creates Lake Nasser, an enormous reservoir. The dam project, completed in 1968 and inaugurated in 1971, is a marvel of modern engineering.
Then, head to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan’s northern quarries. This massive granite obelisk provides valuable insight into ancient Egyptian construction techniques. At 42 meters long and weighing 1168 tons, it would have been the heaviest obelisk ever created by the Egyptians.
After lunch aboard the Nile cruise, set sail at 16:00 for a relaxing trip around Elephantine Island, and visit Lord Kitchener’s Island. For those seeking an authentic experience, you may opt for a visit to the Nubian Village, a colorful and artistic village on the banks of the Nile, where you can explore the local culture for about two hours.
Enjoy dinner aboard the cruise and overnight on board as you continue your exploration of Aswan and its rich history.
Meals: Breakfast- Lunch- Dinner.
5) Day 5- Abu Simbel Temple from Aswan:
After breakfast on board the Nile cruise, embark on an early visit to the Abu Simbel Temples from Aswan. The Abu Simbel temples are two magnificent structures carved into the mountainside on the western bank of the Nile River. Built by Ramses II between 1274 and 1244 BC, the Great Temple was dedicated to Ramses II, Ra-Harakhty, Amun Ra, and Ptah, featuring four colossal statues. The smaller temple was dedicated to Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. Due to the rising waters of the Nile, the temples were carefully dismantled and rebuilt on higher ground—a remarkable achievement by UNESCO.
After your visit to Abu Simbel, return to the Nile cruise for lunch on board. At 13:00, sail towards Kom Ombo. The Temple of Kom Ombo is located 40 km north of Aswan and is dedicated to the deities Sobek and Horus. This unique temple complex dates back to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods (332 BC - 395 AD).
After visiting Kom Ombo, continue your cruise to Edfu and enjoy a relaxing overnight stay. Dinner will be served on board the Nile cruise. In the evening, experience the festive Galabiya Party, a fun and traditional celebration onboard.
Meals: Breakfast- Lunch- Dinner.
6) Day 6- Edfu and Luxor:
After breakfast on board the Nile cruise, enjoy a morning visit to the Temple of Edfu. Depart from the cruise at 08:00 and travel by horse carriage to reach this spectacular temple, one of the best-preserved in Upper Egypt. The Edfu Temple, dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus, was built during the Ptolemaic period and stands on the site of a much older temple. The walls of the temple feature detailed depictions of the myth of the battle between Horus and Seth, which was likely performed as a religious drama. Return to the cruise around 10:00 for lunch.
At 10:30, sail to Luxor through the Esna lock. Arrive in Luxor around 18:00 and visit the Luxor Temple, which was mainly built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and completed by King Tutankhamun and Ramses II. The first pylon of the temple, erected by Ramses II, is adorned with reliefs depicting the Battle of Kadesh, one of his greatest military victories.
After visiting Luxor Temple, return to the Nile cruise for dinner and overnight. You can also opt for an exciting evening trip to the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple for $40 per person.
Meals: Breakfast- Lunch- Dinner.
7) Day 7- Luxor Attractions:
Optional balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings for $80 per person. After breakfast on board the Nile cruise, disembark and start your exploration of the West Bank of Luxor. Visit the Valley of the Kings, once known as the Great Place of Truth, a majestic resting place of the Pharaohs, who were laid to rest in grand stone sarcophagi. The valley is dominated by the pyramid-shaped peaks of the mountains surrounding it. Continue to the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues rising 18 meters above the plain, remnants of the largest complex on the West Bank built by Amenhotep III. Visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt's most remarkable monuments, blending seamlessly with the surrounding limestone cliffs. Finally, visit Karnak Temple, a vast and magnificent complex dedicated to the Theban Triad of gods: Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Karnak was the most important religious site in ancient Egypt, honoring the glory of the Pharaohs.
Lunch will be served during the trip, and after the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel in Luxor, the Lotus Hotel, for an overnight stay.
Enjoy this unforgettable day exploring the ancient wonders of Luxor.
