After breakfast, your guide takes you to the Giza Plateau for the morning visit. You stand before The Pyramids of Giza, learn how the royal complexes were planned, and have time to view the monuments from the main plateau paths. The visit then continues to The Sphinx, where the lion-bodied statue and nearby temple give you a closer look at the site’s construction and symbolism. Comfortable shoes, water and sun protection are useful because the open plateau has limited shade.

Later, visit The Egyptian Museum in central Cairo, home to galleries covering thousands of years of Egyptian history. Your guide helps you focus on the major collections instead of trying to see every object at once. The drive between sites can take longer during busy Cairo traffic, so the schedule leaves room for transfers, a lunch break and a calm return to your hotel before the next stage of the trip.

After breakfast, transfer to Cairo airport for your domestic flight to Luxor. On arrival, our local team meets you and takes you to the cruise boat for check-in and lunch, subject to the sailing schedule. This is the start of your 4 days Nile cruise, travelling south on the Nile with your cabin, meals and shared onboard facilities arranged for the cruise portion of the tour.

In the afternoon, visit Karnak temple, a vast complex of pylons, courts, columns and sanctuaries built over many centuries. Your guide explains the main processional route and points out details that are easy to miss in the scale of the site. Continue to Luxor temple, where the columns and statues take on a different atmosphere as the day cools. Return to the boat for dinner and your first night on board; sailing times can change with river traffic and navigation arrangements.

After breakfast on board, cross to Luxor’s west bank for a morning among royal tombs and memorial temples. At The valley of Kings, your guide explains how the tombs were cut into the desert cliffs and how painted scenes were intended to protect the pharaoh in the afterlife. The entrance ticket normally includes access to a selection of open tombs, while additional tombs may require separate arrangements. The ground is uneven in places, and the heat can build quickly, so a hat and sturdy footwear help.

Continue to Hatshepsut temple, rising in terraces against the cliffs, then stop at The Colossi of Memnon for photographs and a short explanation of the statues’ original setting. Return to the boat for lunch and a period of rest while the cruise continues south. The afternoon is usually slower, giving you time to watch villages, farmland and desert edges pass from the deck before dinner.

The boat continues along the Nile after breakfast, with the day shaped around navigation and the scheduled lock crossing. From the deck, you see cultivated fields close to the water, palms, small river settlements and stretches of open desert. Your guide keeps you informed about the next shore visit, while the cruise provides time to rest, read or sit in the lounge between excursions.

When the boat docks, visit the Temple of Edfu, one of the best-preserved major temples in Egypt, dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus. Continue by boat to Kom Ombo, where the temple’s unusual double design reflects worship of two deities. The walking is mostly on paved or firm surfaces, although there can be sun-exposed sections and busy docking areas. Return to the boat after the visit for dinner and the final night of the cruise before reaching Aswan.

After breakfast, complete the cruise arrangements and leave the boat in Aswan. Your guide then takes you to the High dam, an important modern engineering project that changed flood control, electricity generation and settlement patterns along the river. Continue by boat to Phiala temple, set on an island and reached across the water. The temple was relocated to protect it from the rising lake, and your guide explains how its reliefs and courtyards preserve the story of Isis and other ancient deities.

Later, travel by boat to The Nubian village, where you can walk through brightly painted lanes and learn about local traditions from residents. The visit is informal and should be approached respectfully; ask before taking photographs of people or homes. Depending on docking conditions and the day’s pace, some visits may be arranged in a different order. Spend the night in Aswan, ready for the early excursion on the final day.

Leave Aswan early for the road journey to the Abu Simbel temples. The drive takes several hours each way through the desert, but the scale and setting of the rock-cut sanctuaries make this a worthwhile final excursion for travellers interested in ancient Egypt. Inside, your guide points out the carved halls, royal images and the temple’s relocation during the creation of Lake Nasser. Expect a warm, exposed site with walking between the vehicle area and the entrances.

Return to Aswan after the visit for your departure transfer. If your flight or onward connection is later in the day, our team can use the available time for a relaxed meal or a short rest stop rather than rushing you between locations. Departure arrangements depend on your confirmed travel schedule, so keep your passport and essential items with you during the transfer.
