3) Day 3: Old Cairo Tour
At 8:00 am, an A1toureg Tours representative will pick you up from your hotel to begin an exciting day of exploration in Old Cairo. Your first stop is the Egyptian Museum, home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Next, you'll head to the Saladin Citadel, an impressive fortress built by Salah al-Din on the Moqattam Hills in 1183 AD as a defense against Crusader forces. Offering spectacular views of Cairo and a refreshing breeze, the Citadel is now a historical site with beautiful mosques and museums, including the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, designed by Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq. The mosque’s stunning alabaster structure provides a striking contrast to the city’s sandstone buildings.
Afterward, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Old Cairo.
In the afternoon, you’ll visit Old Cairo to explore historic sites such as the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, Church of St. Barbara, and Church of Abu Serga, one of the oldest Coptic churches in Cairo.
Next, you will continue your journey to the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in the Middle East. Wander through the maze of alleys that have been the heart of Cairo’s commercial activities since the 14th century.
In the evening, take a flight from Cairo to Aswan. Upon arrival at Aswan Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to the Basma Hotel for your overnight stay.
4) Day 4: Abu Simbel, Aswan & Luxor
Begin your day with an early pick-up from your hotel in Aswan. Your guide will meet you at the airport, and you'll travel by air-conditioned vehicle to the iconic Abu Simbel temples. The journey takes about 3 hours, and you’ll arrive before the midday heat.
The Abu Simbel temples were carved into the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC. Upon arrival, an expert Egyptologist guide will share fascinating insights about this remarkable pharaoh. Marvel at the majestic façade of the Great Temple of Ramesses II, with its four giant statues of the pharaoh, each depicting him at different stages of his life. Although the temple is technically dedicated to the gods Amon-Re, Horakhty, and Ptah, it was primarily built to celebrate Ramesses II’s greatness.
Next, visit the smaller temple dedicated to his wife, Queen Nefertari, located beside the main temple. Admire the stunning rock-cut façade that shows the king and queen together in grand scenes.
At 09:00, re-board your coach for the return trip to Aswan. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before starting your afternoon tour. First, visit the Aswan High Dam, a colossal rock-fill dam that forms Lake Nasser, which was completed in 1968. Then, head to the Unfinished Obelisk, an ancient project that was never completed but provides insight into ancient Egyptian stonework techniques.
Next, visit the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. This temple, built around 690 BC, is the last to be constructed in the traditional Egyptian style. Explore this well-preserved site and learn about the goddess Isis’ importance in ancient Egyptian religion.
End your day with a relaxing Nile Felucca ride, offering a unique perspective of the river and surrounding landscapes.
In the evening, enjoy a scenic drive to Luxor, where you'll check in to your hotel, the Lotus Hotel, for an overnight stay. Dinner will be served at the hotel, allowing you to unwind after a full day of exploration.
5) Day 5: Valley of the Kings & Luxor Temple Tour
After being picked up from your hotel, you'll travel to the West Bank of Luxor to explore some of Egypt's most famous ancient monuments.
First, visit the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues standing 18 meters tall. These giant stone figures were built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and once guarded the entrance to his grand temple, now in ruins. Despite their age, these statues remain impressive symbols of ancient Egypt’s power and grandeur.
Next, head to the Valley of the Kings, the burial place of many of Egypt’s most powerful pharaohs, including Tutankhamun and Ramses the Great. Known in ancient times as the "Great Place of Truth," this valley is home to rock-cut tombs where the kings and queens of the New Kingdom were laid to rest in majestic stone sarcophagi. The valley is set against a dramatic desert backdrop, with a pyramid-shaped mountain peak looming overhead.
Continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most remarkable monuments in Egypt. This terraced temple, built into the cliffs of the Theban Mountain, is dedicated to the only female pharaoh to reign as a king. Its stunning design and dramatic location make it one of Luxor’s top attractions.
After a delicious lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant, visit the magnificent Karnak Temple, a vast complex of sanctuaries, obelisks, and pylons. Karnak was the main center of worship for the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonsu) and was dedicated to the glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. The sheer size and scale of this temple complex make it one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world.
Finally, explore the Luxor Temple, located in the heart of Luxor city. This temple was built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and later expanded by Ramses II. The first pylon of the temple, constructed by Ramses, is adorned with scenes from his famous Battle of Kadesh. The Luxor Temple is a key site in understanding ancient Egyptian religion and is beautifully preserved.
In the evening, return to your hotel, the Lotus Hotel in Luxor, where you will stay overnight.
6) Day 6: Departure from Luxor
After enjoying a memorable stay in Luxor, it’s time to head to the airport for your onward journey. You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Luxor International Airport for your flight to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be met and assisted for your transfer to Cairo International Airport for your international departure.
Whether you are returning home or continuing your travels, we hope you’ve enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience exploring the ancient wonders of Egypt. Safe travels, and we look forward to welcoming you back on your next adventure!
