Inside the larger temple, colossal seated figures lead towards halls decorated with royal and religious scenes. Today you travel by road from Aswan to Luxor, following the Nile through Upper Egypt. The transfer takes several hours, with the exact duration depending on traffic and the planned stops. After arrival, the main visit is the Valley of Kings, where selected tombs descend into the hillside and contain painted scenes from the journey to the afterlife. There is time to walk between the open areas and tomb entrances, although the ground can be uneven and some passages are steep. Bring a hat, water and shoes with good grip.
