Karnak is not just a temple; it’s an extraordinary complex consisting of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks, all dedicated to the Theban gods and the glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. As the most important center for worshiping the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonso), Karnak is one of Egypt’s most remarkable ancient sites.
Next, head to Luxor Temple, which was mostly built by Pharaoh Amenhotep III during the New Kingdom and later completed by Tutankhamun and the great Ramses II. 4) Day 4- The Valley of the Kings & Queen Hatshepsut Temple
Start your day with a delicious breakfast onboard your Nile cruise as you sail toward the west bank of the Nile. Your first stop is the Valley of the Kings, once known as the "Great Place of Truth." This majestic valley was the final resting place for many pharaohs, who were laid in grand stone sarcophagi, awaiting immortality. The valley, hidden behind Deir el-Bahri, is dominated by the towering Pyramid-shaped Mountain Peak, offering breathtaking views of this ancient royal burial site.
Next, visit the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues that rise 18 meters from the plain, remaining from what was once the largest temple complex on the west bank, built by Amenhotep III. These giant statues stand as a testament to the grandeur of ancient Egypt.
Continue your journey to the stunning Queen Hatshepsut Temple, rising majestically out of the desert on a series of terraces. The temple blends seamlessly with the surrounding limestone cliffs of the Theban Mountain, as if nature herself helped construct this extraordinary monument, honoring one of Egypt's most famous female pharaohs.
At 13:00, enjoy a relaxing sail to Esna Lock, with lunch served on board during the journey. Arrive at Esna Lock by 18:00, and then continue your cruise towards Edfu, where you will have dinner and spend the night aboard the ship.
This day offers an incredible chance to explore Egypt's ancient history, including the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the iconic Colossi of Memnon, all while enjoying the comfort and luxury of your Nile cruise. Perfect for history lovers and those seeking an unforgettable experience of ancient Egyptian monuments.
5) Day 5- Edfu and Kom Ombo Temples
Start your day with a delicious breakfast aboard your Nile cruise at 07:00, then set out to visit the impressive Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Upper Egypt. Dedicated to the hawk-god Horus, this Ptolemaic temple was built on the site of an earlier structure and dates back to the reign of Ptolemy III (246 BC). The temple walls are adorned with vivid depictions, including the myth of Horus and Seth, likely performed annually as a religious drama.
At 09:30, enjoy a relaxing sail towards Kom Ombo. During the journey, lunch will be served aboard your Nile cruise at 12:30.
Arrive at Kom Ombo at 15:30 and explore the Kom Ombo Temple, located 40 km north of Aswan. This temple is unique as it is dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus. The temple, dating mainly to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods (332 BC - 395 AD), is famous for its twin design, reflecting the duality of the gods it honors.
At 17:30, continue your journey down the Nile towards Aswan, where you will enjoy dinner on board during the sail. Arrive in Aswan by 21:00 and spend the night aboard the cruise ship.
This day offers a fantastic opportunity to explore ancient Egyptian history, including the stunning Edfu Temple and the unique Kom Ombo Temple, all while enjoying the comforts and luxury of your Nile cruise. 6) Day 6- Temple of Philae and Aswan
Start your day with a delicious breakfast aboard your Nile cruise at 08:00. Then, embark on a fascinating tour of Aswan, visiting the Temple of Philae, a temple dedicated to the goddess Isis. This is the last temple built in the classic Egyptian style, constructed around 690 BC. It was one of the final sites where Isis was worshipped.
Next, enjoy a relaxing Felucca boat ride around Elephantine Island, where you can soak in scenic views of the Nile River and the surrounding landscapes. Continue your exploration with a visit to the Aswan High Dam, a massive rock-fill dam located at the northern border between Egypt and Sudan. Completed in 1968, the dam created Lake Nasser, one of the largest reservoirs in the world.
You'll also visit the Unfinished Obelisk, which provides valuable insights into ancient Egyptian stone-carving techniques. Located in the northern quarries, this giant obelisk was nearly completed but left unfinished, and it would have been the heaviest stone object ever created by the ancient Egyptians at 1168 tons. Its size and unfinished state reveal how monumental Egyptian obelisks were crafted.
At 12:00, enjoy a tasty lunch on board your Nile cruise, relaxing as you continue your journey along the Nile River.
End the day with a delightful dinner and spend the night on board the cruise, enjoying the serene beauty of the Nile and the comfort of your luxurious cruise ship.
7) Day 7- Abu Simbel
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast aboard your Nile cruise before setting off on an optional tour to the incredible Abu Simbel temples. The Abu Simbel Temples, carved into the mountainside on the west bank of the Nile River, were built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II between 1274 and 1244 BC. The Great Temple is dedicated to Ramses II, as well as the gods Ra-Harakhty, Amun Ra, and Ptah, with four massive statues guarding its entrance.
The second temple, dedicated to Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor, is equally impressive. Both temples were meticulously dismantled stone by stone and relocated to higher ground to protect them from the rising waters of the Nile following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. The relocation and preservation of these temples is considered one of UNESCO's greatest achievements in heritage conservation.
