2) Day 2-Aswan, Abu Simbel, and Luxor
Start the day with breakfast on board your cruise, followed by an early morning trip to Abu Simbel from Aswan. Visit the famous Abu Simbel Temples, which were carved into the mountainside between 1274 and 1244 BC. The Great Temple is dedicated to Ramses II and the gods Ra-Harakhty, Amun Ra, and Ptah, featuring four colossal statues. The second temple honors Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. Both temples were relocated in the 1960s to avoid submersion due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam, a remarkable feat recognized by UNESCO.
After exploring Abu Simbel, return to Aswan for lunch. In the afternoon, continue your tour with visits to key landmarks in Aswan, including the Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and one of the last temples built in the classical Egyptian style around 690 BC. You'll also see the impressive Aswan High Dam, which was completed in 1968 and created Lake Nasser. Lastly, visit the Unfinished Obelisk, an enormous granite obelisk abandoned during its construction, offering fascinating insights into ancient Egyptian stoneworking techniques.

4) Day 4-Alexandria Excursion from Cairo
Fly from Luxor to Cairo, where you will be met and assisted before driving to Alexandria (220 km/3 hours). Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel in central Alexandria with a view of the Corniche. Start your tour by visiting some of Alexandria's notable Graeco-Roman sites, including:
The Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa: These catacombs, carved into the rock on the southern slopes of a hill in the Carmous district, date back to the 2nd century AD. They are an excellent example of Alexandria's unique blend of Egyptian and Greco-Roman architecture. Discovered in 1900 after a donkey fell into them, the catacombs reveal the fascinating burial practices of the time.
Pompey’s Pillar: This towering 30-meter column stands over the ruins of the ancient settlement of Rhakotis, the birthplace of Alexandria. Made from red Aswan granite, Pompey's Pillar has been one of the city's most prominent landmarks for centuries. It stands above the remnants of the Serapeum Temple, a once-magnificent structure.
The Roman Amphitheatre at Kom el Dikka: In ancient times, Kom el Dikka was a wealthy residential area with villas, bathhouses, and a theatre. Known as the Park of Pan, it was a place of leisure for Alexandrians. The well-preserved ruins include Egypt's only Roman amphitheatre, which is composed of 13 white-marble terraces.
Lunch: Enjoy lunch in one of Alexandria's local restaurants, with options such as the Fish Market or Tikka, offering a great view of the Citadel and the fishing port.
Bibliotheca Alexandrina: This modern architectural marvel, designed to evoke the ancient Great Library of Alexandria, houses a vast collection of books, museums, and galleries. Opened in 2002 as a tribute to the ancient library, it features a huge reading room that can hold up to eight million volumes. It also hosts three museums, four art galleries, a planetarium, and a restoration laboratory for ancient manuscripts.
Fort Qaitbey: Built by Sultan Qaitbey in the 15th century to protect Alexandria’s harbor, this fort is located on Pharos Island, where the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood. Although the lighthouse was destroyed in an earthquake, remnants of the red brick used in its construction remain, offering a glimpse into the city's glorious past. The fort offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.
In the late afternoon, enjoy a scenic stroll along the Corniche to Fort Qaitbey for panoramic views of the Mediterranean.
Afterward, drive back to Cairo for an overnight stay.
5) Day 5-Explore Historic Cairo
Pick-up from your hotel in Giza at 08:00 AM, where you will be greeted by your Egyptologist guide. Renowned for its fresh air and panoramic views of Cairo, the Citadel is now a historic site featuring mosques and museums, including the famous Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha. Designed by Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq, who was brought to Cairo from Istanbul specifically for this project, the mosque’s alabaster walls create a striking contrast with the surrounding sandstone city.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Old Cairo, followed by a visit to some of the area's most significant historical and religious sites. Explore the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Church of St. Barbara, and the Church of Abu Serga, one of Cairo’s oldest Coptic churches.
Next, head to the vibrant Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest and most famous markets in the Middle East. Experience the bustling atmosphere of Cairo’s historic trade center, which has been a hub of commerce since the 14th century.
After a fascinating day of exploration, return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Cairo.
