Set out early from Aswan in a private car to witness Abu Simbel temples, which are architectural marvels: The two temples of Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari were expertly carved from the mountain on the Nile's western bank between 1274 and 1244 BCE. The Great Temple honours Ramesses II, Ra-Harakhty, Amun Ra, and Ptah, adorned with 4 Colossal statues. The second temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari and Goddess Hathor exemplifies classical Egyptian design. Both temples were painstakingly dismantled and relocated to higher ground, representing a monumental UNESCO preservation achievement. Lunch is arranged in Aswan, followed by a magical felucca sailing at sunset. An optional excursion to the Nubian settlement awaits - the enchanting Nubian village offers authentic cultural immersion spanning 2 hours. Stroll through its vibrant, artistic streets to experience the genuine essence of Nubian heritage! Overnight at Movenpick Aswan
4) Day 4 - Aswan Sights, Then Luxor
Explore Aswan's fascinating attractions including Philae Temple and a felucca cruise around Elephantine Island, featuring the High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk. Philae Temple was erected to venerate Goddess Isis, serving as the last classical Egyptian-style sanctuary. Its construction initiated approximately 690 BCE, standing as an ultimate place of worship for the goddess. Aswan High Dam represents a remarkable engineering feat, a rock-filled structure positioned at Egypt's northern frontier with Sudan. The Nile River feeds the dam, creating Lake Nasser as the reservoir. The initiative commenced in 1960, concluding in 1968, with formal inauguration in 1971. The Unfinished Obelisk reveals ancient quarrying methods. Aswan once supplied the empire's superior granite for statuary and temple embellishment. The massive unfinished obelisk in Northern Quarries demonstrates monument construction techniques, though complete understanding remains elusive. Three sides of the approximately 42-meter shaft reached completion except for carvings. At 1168 tonnes, this monument would have constituted the heaviest stone block produced by ancient craftsmen. Lunch is served in Aswan. Continue to Kom Ombo temple : Positioned 40 km north of Aswan, this temple honored deities Sobek and Horus, dating primarily to Ptolemaic and Roman periods (332 BCE - 395 CE). Proceed to Edfu temple :
This Upper Egyptian landmark showcases a magnificent well-preserved edifice dedicated to falcon-deity Horus. The Ptolemaic Horus Temple construction dates between Ptolemy III's reign (246 BCE). Wall inscriptions chronicle the mythological struggle between Horus and Seth, likely dramatized annually as ritual performance. Travel onwards to Luxor and stay overnight at Luxor in Steigenberger Pyramids Hotel
5) Day 5 - Karnak & Luxor Temples
After breakfast, proceed to visit the magnificent Temple of Karnak the world's greatest ancient religious sanctuary complex : Karnak temple Karnak temple is the world's grandest ancient religious sanctuary complex, representing the pinnacle of human temple construction achievement. Spanning 247 acres, Karnak showcases the combined legacy of countless generations of ancient builders and Pharaohs. The Temple of Karnak comprises three principal sanctuaries distributed across the expansive site. Following your Karnak exploration, visit Luxor Temple: Serving as the epicenter for the Opet festival celebration, humanity's most sacred observance, it was principally constructed under Amenhotep III and Ramesses II. The temple functioned as the ritual stage where the ruler's earthly nature achieved harmonious reconciliation with divine authority.
Circa midday, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor , The afternoon remains unscheduled for your leisure
6) Day 6 - West Bank Wonders
Experience an unforgettable hot air balloon ride above Luxor Before dawn, your hotel pickup commences your exploration of this ancient metropolis across Luxor 's legendary West Bank. Guided by your private expert, you traverse the Nile toward some of Luxor 's most breathtaking archaeological treasures. Begin with the historic Valley of the Kings, where you will visit three royal sepulchers. The Valley of the Kings served as Egypt's royal necropolis from the 18th through 20th dynasties, housing monumental tombs including the mighty Pharaoh Ramesses II and youthful Pharaoh Tutankhamun . Ancient rulers filled these tombs with precious possessions for the afterlife. Remarkably, interior decorative elements remain well-preserved. Those wishing to tour the Tomb of young Pharaoh Tutankhamun , or visit the Tomb of King Seti 1 may do so. Discover the Temple of Hatshepsut : Among the most exquisite & superbly preserved ancient Egyptian temples accessible at Luxor . Built across three levels linked by two grand ramps, the temple rises majestically from the desert terrain. The structure seamlessly integrates with the Theban Mountain's towering limestone escarpment as if nature itself orchestrated its creation. The legendary Colossi of Memnon: These twin colossal limestone effigies portraying King Amenhotep III represent all that survives from a grand mortuary temple complex. Crafted from quartzite sandstone blocks originally sourced near Cairo then transported 700 km to Luxor , The famous Colossi of Memnon , towering 18 meters skyward, constitute the sole vestiges of what once represented the West Bank's most magnificent sanctuary, Built by Amenhotep the Third. Explore the Valley of The Queens:
The Valley of the Queens, formally known as Biban el-Harim, Biban el-Sultanate, and Wadi el-Melikat, represents an ancient Egyptian burial site reserved for royal consorts during antiquity. Historically designated Ta-Set-Neferu, translating to 'the place of the Pharaoh's Children', it interred not only queens from the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties (1550-1070 BCE) alongside princes, princesses, and nobility of distinction. The celebrated burial place of Nefertari, Ramesses II's most cherished spouse, merits special mention. In her memory, Ramesses II constructed a magnificent temple at Abu Simbel.
