Description

Our Egypt 7-day tour with Nile cruise and Red Sea brings the country’s main sights together in one organised itinerary. You start in Cairo, where the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx make Egypt’s ancient past tangible. The tour then heads south for a three-night cruise between Luxor and Aswan, with guided visits to important temples and tombs before time to rest at a Red Sea resort.

At the Giza Pyramids, your guide explains how the monuments were built and how the complex developed over time. You see the Great Pyramid, the other main pyramids and the Sphinx, with time for photographs and questions. In Cairo, the Cairo Museum gives more context to the monuments. Its collection includes royal statues, funerary objects and treasures associated with King Tutankhamun, offering a closer look at the people and beliefs of ancient Egypt.

The Nile cruise slows the pace after Cairo. As you travel by river, villages, cultivated fields and desert edges pass by while you stay in the same cabin. Our team coordinates the transfers, cruise arrangements and guided sightseeing, leaving you to focus on the sites rather than figuring out local transport. Meals are arranged on board according to the cruise plan, and the schedule leaves time to sit on deck while the boat is sailing.

In Luxor, the west bank visit takes you to the Valley of the Kings, where tombs were cut into the dry hills for New Kingdom rulers. You also visit Hatshepsut Temple, built into the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, before exploring the vast Karnak complex on the east bank. Karnak makes more sense with a guide: different pharaohs added its columns, courtyards and sanctuary areas over many centuries.

Aswan has a different setting and a gentler pace. You visit Philae Temple, sometimes written as Phiala Temple, on an island reached by boat. Its reliefs and columns remain closely tied to the worship of Isis, while the short boat ride shows the landscape around the old Nile cataracts. The itinerary also includes Abu Simbel, known for its enormous rock-cut temples built by Ramesses II and dedicated to his reign and the gods.

  • See the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx with a guide
  • Visit the Cairo Museum and its King Tutankhamun treasures
  • Sail for three nights between Luxor and Aswan
  • Explore Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple
  • Visit Philae Temple and Abu Simbel
  • Relax at a Red Sea resort after the sightseeing

This trip suits travellers who want a broad first visit to Egypt without arranging each domestic transfer themselves. It includes flights or long transfers between regions, walking on uneven ground, steps at some monuments and early starts for certain excursions, including Abu Simbel. The cruise is a comfortable base, but this is not a beach holiday throughout; the schedule focuses on sightseeing before the final Red Sea rest.

We keep the arrangements practical, with assistance during transfers and a knowledgeable guide for the main archaeological visits. Accommodation, transport and cruise details are confirmed with your booking information, while the exact Red Sea resort depends on the selected package. Bring comfortable shoes, sun protection and a small day bag; a light layer is useful on the Nile in the evening.

Your Itinerary

Our team meets you on arrival at Cairo International Airport and helps with the transfer to your hotel. After check-in, the rest of the day is kept light so you can recover from your journey. Your guide reviews the week ahead, including the internal travel arrangements, the Nile cruise, and the transfer to the Red Sea resort.

If your arrival time allows, you can take an easy walk near the hotel or rest before dinner. Cairo traffic can make journeys across the city slow, so we keep the first day flexible rather than adding a rushed sightseeing visit. Have your passport and travel documents accessible during airport formalities and hotel check-in. Overnight in Cairo.

After breakfast, you visit the Giza Pyramids while the morning is still cool. Your guide explains how the pyramid complex was planned, then leads you around the Great Pyramid and the neighbouring monuments. There is time for photographs from the main viewpoints, followed by a closer look at the Sphinx and its distinctive limestone face. The ground is uneven in places, and comfortable shoes make the visit easier.

Later, continue into central Cairo for the Cairo Museum. Its galleries bring together statues, jewellery, funerary objects, and royal pieces from several periods of Egyptian history, including objects associated with Tutankhamun. The visit is indoors but involves a fair amount of standing and walking. After the museum, return to the hotel to rest and prepare for the early transfer to Luxor.

After breakfast, we arrange your transfer to Cairo Airport for the flight to Luxor. On arrival, your guide takes you to Karnak, where a processional avenue leads into one of Egypt’s largest temple complexes. Walk beneath the remaining columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall, see the obelisks and courts, and hear how successive rulers expanded the sanctuary over many centuries.

In the afternoon, board your Nile cruise ship and settle into your cabin. The crew completes the embarkation arrangements while you have time to relax on deck and watch the river traffic. Dinner and the first night are on board. This is night one of the three-night cruise between Luxor and Aswan, with the ship’s schedule determining the precise sailing time.

The day begins on Luxor’s west bank, where the landscape changes from city streets to desert hills. At the Valley of the Kings, your guide explains why New Kingdom rulers chose this hidden-looking valley for their tombs. You enter the tombs open for your visit, following painted corridors and chambers decorated with scenes connected to the afterlife. Tomb access can vary, and some require an additional ticket.

Continue to Hatshepsut Temple, built in terraces against the cliffs. Its broad approach, colonnades, and reliefs show how the monument was designed to connect architecture with the surrounding rock face. Allow time for shade and water, as there is limited cover outdoors. Return to the ship for lunch or rest, then spend the second cruise night on board as the vessel continues south.

After the ship reaches Aswan, travel to Abu Simbel for a guided visit to the two rock-cut temples built by Ramesses II. The journey takes several hours each way, so the excursion is an early and full day. Inside the larger temple, look for the colossal seated figures and the decorated halls leading towards the sanctuary. The smaller temple is dedicated to Nefertari and has its own row of statues and reliefs.

Return to Aswan and visit Philae Temple, set on an island reached by a short motorboat ride. The temple complex was moved to higher ground during the construction of the Aswan High Dam, a detail your guide explains on site. Rejoin the cruise for your third and final night on board. Keep essentials with you for the excursion and leave larger luggage secured in your cabin.

After breakfast, complete disembarkation from the Nile cruise and meet your driver for the overland transfer towards the Red Sea coast. The journey takes much of the day, with a planned stop where practical for refreshments and a stretch. Egypt’s distances are considerable, so bring water, sun protection, and a small bag with anything you need during the drive.

On arrival at the resort, check in and use the remaining time to slow down after the sightseeing schedule. You may relax by the pool, walk along the shore, or arrange a beach or snorkelling activity directly through the resort, subject to local conditions and availability. Our team confirms the next day’s departure arrangements with you. Overnight at the Red Sea resort.

Your final morning is free at the Red Sea resort. Have breakfast at your own pace, take a short walk along the shore, or simply enjoy a quiet start after the cruise and long road transfers. If you choose a water activity, allow enough time to return, collect your luggage, and change before departure.

At the agreed time, our team arranges your transfer to the airport or to your next destination. The correct pickup time depends on your confirmed flight and the distance from the resort, so we provide the details before you leave Cairo or during the tour. Check your room carefully for passports, chargers, and valuables before checking out.

Frequently Asked Questions

This 7-day Egypt itinerary usually includes accommodation, three nights on a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, sightseeing with a guide, scheduled transfers, and time at a Red Sea resort, with the exact inclusions shown in your booking details.

Sightseeing covers the Giza Pyramids, Cairo Museum, Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Philae Temple, and Abu Simbel. Meals, domestic flights, entrance fees, and airport transfers can vary by package, so check the included-services list before booking.

Seven days is enough for a well-planned introduction to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea, but the pace is active because the itinerary combines city sightseeing, a three-night Nile cruise and resort time.

You visit the Giza Pyramids and Cairo Museum in Cairo, then see Luxor’s Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple before cruising south to Aswan. Abu Simbel and Philae Temple require organised sightseeing, so some days begin early.

Airport pickups and transfers are arranged according to the transport details in your confirmed Egypt itinerary, with our team coordinating the journey between airports, accommodation, sightseeing points and the Nile cruise.

We provide the practical instructions for each transfer before travel. Keep your arrival and departure details accurate when booking, and tell us about any mobility needs or changes as soon as possible so we can review the arrangements.

This Egypt tour can suit families and many travellers with average fitness, but it includes walking over uneven ground, steps, heat exposure and early starts at archaeological sites such as the Giza Pyramids, Valley of the Kings and Abu Simbel.

Children usually benefit from the mix of pyramids, temples and a Nile cruise. Travellers with limited mobility should contact our team before booking, as access at historic sites, cruise boats and some transfers may be restricted.

Bring light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, a hat, sunglasses, personal medicines and a reusable water bottle for this Egypt itinerary. Modest clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is suitable when visiting mosques and religious sites.

Pack a light layer for air-conditioned vehicles and evenings, plus swimwear for the Red Sea resort. A small day bag makes visits to the Cairo Museum, Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and Philae Temple easier.

You can book the 7-day Egypt itinerary by selecting your preferred travel details and reviewing the package inclusions, payment terms and cancellation conditions before confirming.

Cancellation rules depend on the services reserved for your package, including accommodation, the Nile cruise and any transport arrangements. Read the specific booking conditions shown at checkout, and contact our team before payment if you need clarification or want to discuss changes.
