Description

Our Egypt seven-day tour package brings Cairo’s ancient sites and a three-night Nile cruise into one well-planned trip. You start with Giza’s Pyramids and the Sphinx, then travel south to follow the Nile between Luxor and Aswan. The schedule is full but manageable, with private guiding, organised transfers and time for the main sights without arranging every connection yourself.

In Cairo, a licensed Egyptologist takes you through the pyramid area and explains how the monuments were built, used and preserved. The Sphinx is nearby, so you see both main Giza sights in one visit. You also visit Cairo’s Egyptian Museum, where royal statues, jewellery and funerary objects give context to the pharaonic sites. Your Cairo sightseeing includes Mohamed Ali’s Mosque in the Citadel, Historic Old Cairo and the narrow lanes of the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.

The southern part of the tour begins in Luxor, where the Nile cruise is your base for three nights. On the east bank, Karnak’s temple complex lets you walk through broad courts, rows of columns and sanctuaries. Luxor’s temple has a different feel later in the day, when illuminated columns and statues line the route through the centre of the ancient city.

Across the river, the Valley of the Kings has decorated tombs cut into the desert hills. We also visit Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple, built in terraces against the cliffs, and the Colossi of Memnon. Your guide explains the purpose of each site and keeps the visit moving at a comfortable pace, while the cruise gives you a quiet place to rest between excursions.

As the boat travels south, you see the Nile shift from cultivated riverbank to open desert and rocky islands. In Aswan, our programme includes Philae Temple, reached by boat on an island, and Aswan’s High Dam. A visit to Nubian settlements adds a local perspective, with time to see riverside homes, community life and the distinct colours of Nubian architecture.

Abu Simbel’s temple complex is included as a guided excursion from Aswan. The rock-cut temples and colossal figures were relocated during the High Dam project, and the interior reliefs still show strong detail. The visit involves an early start and travel away from the Nile valley, so it suits travellers who want to see one of southern Egypt’s major monuments and are comfortable with a long sightseeing day.

Meals and accommodation are arranged according to the selected package, with meals on the Nile cruise provided as specified in your booking. Our team coordinates transport between airports, hotels, the cruise boat and sightseeing areas. This makes the package a practical choice for first-time visitors, families and travellers with only a week in Egypt. It is less suitable for anyone seeking a slow beach holiday, since several visits involve walking over uneven ground and climbing steps. Bring comfortable shoes, a refillable water bottle and sun protection headwear; your guide will confirm the daily meeting arrangements and any early departure details.

Your Itinerary

Arrive in Cairo, where our representative meets you at the airport and helps with the arrival formalities before your private transfer to the hotel. The drive gives you your first look at the city, and the rest of the day is kept flexible so you can recover after your journey.

Your guide reviews the programme with you and confirms the arrangements for the following morning. Depending on your arrival time, you can rest at the hotel or take a short walk nearby. Keep your passport, medication and any valuables with you during transfers, and carry light clothing suitable for Cairo’s daytime temperatures.

This first evening is deliberately unhurried. The main sightseeing begins after breakfast on Day 2, when you visit the Giza plateau and Cairo’s central museums and historic quarters.

After breakfast, your private guide takes you to Giza’s legendary Pyramids. You see the three main pyramids from the plateau, hear how royal burial complexes were planned, and have time for photographs from the open viewing areas. The visit continues to the iconic Sphinx monument, where the carved limestone figure faces the pyramid fields.

Return to central Cairo for the Egyptian Museum, home to major collections from ancient Egypt. Your licensed Egyptologist guide explains selected objects and helps you focus on the galleries rather than trying to cover the entire museum in one visit. Comfortable shoes are useful because there is considerable standing and walking.

Later, explore Historic Old Cairo before visiting Mohamed Ali Mosque inside the Citadel area. Finish at the legendary Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, where narrow lanes hold cafés, spice shops and craft stalls. The evening transfer returns you to your hotel for an early night before your flight south.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Cairo airport for your flight to Aswan, followed by the onward journey to Abu Simbel. At Abu Simbel’s grand temple complex, your guide explains the colossal rock-cut temples built by Ramesses II and the sculptures carved into the cliff face. Allow time to walk between the temples and view the interiors before returning to Aswan.

Back in Aswan, visit the High Dam, whose broad structure changed irrigation and electricity production along the Nile. Continue to the harbour and board your Nile cruise boat. The crew completes check-in while you settle into your cabin and have time to look across the river from the deck.

Your first cruise night begins in Aswan. The day involves an early start, a flight and several transfers, so keep water, sun protection headwear and essential medication in your hand luggage rather than in your main suitcase.

After breakfast on board, travel by boat to the island of Agilkia for the temple of Philae. Your guide traces the sanctuary’s history and explains how its monuments were moved when the original island was threatened by rising water. The island setting makes this a calm morning visit, with time to see the courtyards, columns and surviving reliefs.

Later, take a local boat along the river to authentic Nubian settlements near Aswan. You see brightly painted homes and learn about local traditions, agriculture and daily life from your guide. The visit is respectful and relaxed; ask before photographing residents or entering private spaces.

Return to the cruise boat for lunch and an afternoon at a slower pace. You can read on deck, watch the riverbank pass or rest in your cabin as the boat prepares for the next sailing stage. Dinner and overnight accommodation are on board.

Today is centred on the voyage between Aswan and Luxor. After breakfast, the boat continues along the Nile while your guide explains the farming villages, canals and cultivated strips that appear between the river and the desert. This is the least rushed day of the itinerary, giving you time to enjoy the changing landscape instead of moving between road transfers.

Meals are served on board, and the exact sailing schedule depends on navigation and lock arrangements. Spend part of the day on the sun deck, choosing shade during the strongest afternoon heat, or use the quieter indoor areas. Bring a light layer for evening air and sun protection for time outside.

This is your third and final cruise night. Keep your departure-day belongings organised, since the boat reaches Luxor on Day 6 and the programme continues directly into the city’s ancient monuments.

After breakfast, disembark in Luxor and cross to the west bank with your guide. Begin at the legendary Valley of the Kings, where selected royal tombs descend into the limestone hills. The ground is uneven in places, and the heat can build quickly, so wear supportive footwear and carry water. Your ticket normally covers a set selection of tombs; additional tombs may require a separate ticket.

Continue to Hatshepsut’s remarkable mortuary temple, built in terraces against the cliffs. The route then stops at the Colossi of Memnon, two large seated statues beside the ancient approach to the Theban monuments. After a break for lunch, cross back to the east bank.

End the sightseeing day at Karnak’s magnificent temple complex, where the great hypostyle hall, processional avenues and layered building history show how the site developed over centuries. Check in at your Luxor hotel after the visit and keep the evening free to rest.

After breakfast, visit Luxor’s spectacular temple before leaving the city. The complex sits close to the modern centre, and your guide leads you through its courtyards, columns and inscriptions in a clear sequence. Its connection with Karnak is visible in the avenue that once linked the two temples, giving useful context to the previous day’s visit.

Return to the hotel to collect your luggage, then take a private transfer to Luxor airport or the next agreed departure point. Our team allows practical time for packing and the transfer, but the final schedule depends on your departure arrangements. Keep your travel documents and valuables accessible throughout the journey.

If your departure is later in the day, your guide can advise on suitable free time in Luxor without adding pressure to the airport transfer. The tour ends with your drop-off, after seven days covering Cairo, Giza, Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor.

Children usually manage well with breaks, water and shade, while some sites require additional planning for mobility needs.

Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is practical for religious sites such as Mohamed Ali's Mosque and for visits in local communities.

A light layer can help on air-conditioned transport and cooler evenings. Keep passports, valuables and required travel documents secure, and pack a small day bag for temple visits, the Valley of the Kings and excursions from the cruise.
