After breakfast, we begin in Islamic Cairo at the Citadel of Salah El Din, where the Mohammed Ali Mosque rises above the city. Your guide explains the mosque’s Ottoman design and points out the broad Cairo views from the citadel terraces. Dress modestly for the visit; shoulders and knees should be covered, and shoes are removed before entering the prayer hall.

We then continue to the Egyptian Museum, where galleries hold statues, jewellery, coffins and everyday objects from several periods of ancient Egyptian history. Your guide helps place the main pieces in context rather than rushing through every room. Allow several hours for the visit, with time to walk between the citadel and museum and stop for lunch. In the evening, we return you to your accommodation so you can prepare for the next day’s early transfer to Aswan.

We leave Cairo for Aswan by domestic flight, then continue south by road to the Abu Simbel temples. The journey is long but well planned, and the reward is a close look at the rock-cut sanctuaries built by Ramesses II. Inside, your guide explains the colossal figures, ceremonial rooms and the temple’s relocation during the Nile Valley rescue project.

After returning to Aswan, we transfer you to the cruise boat for embarkation. The crew handles the check-in process while you settle into your cabin and take in the river views from the deck. Meals are served on board, and the evening is generally calm after the road journey. This is the first of three cruise nights, with the boat travelling north towards Luxor during the following days.

Today begins with a visit to the High Dam, the modern project that created Lake Nasser and changed irrigation and flood control along the Nile. We then take a short boat ride to Philae temple, dedicated mainly to Isis. The temple stands on Agilkia Island after being moved from its original island, and your guide will point out the reliefs, courtyards and unfinished details.

Later, we cross the water to a Nubian village. The visit gives you time to see brightly painted homes, meet local residents when appropriate and learn about Nubian traditions along the river. The pace is relaxed, although the boat landing may involve uneven ground. We return to the cruise boat for lunch or rest, then sail north as the landscape changes from Aswan’s rocky edges to wider fields and villages.

The fifth day follows the rhythm of the Nile cruise. After breakfast, you can watch farmland, palm groves and small riverside settlements pass from the deck while the boat continues towards Luxor. The crew provides meals and keeps you informed about the sailing schedule, while your guide explains the sites planned for the following day.

There is time to rest, read or use the boat’s common areas between meals. Passing through the locks, when scheduled, is a practical part of river travel and may involve a period of waiting. Bring sun protection for the open deck and a light layer for the evening. This is the third night on board, so keep the items needed for the next morning accessible rather than packing everything away.

After breakfast, we disembark in Luxor and begin on the west bank. At the Valley of the Kings, your guide explains how royal tombs were cut into the desert hills and how the painted burial chambers were prepared for the afterlife. The included tombs can change, and extra tomb entries may be arranged separately. Wear comfortable shoes, since the paths are uneven and the valley has little shade.

We continue to Hatshepsut temple, set against the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, then stop at the Colossi of Memnon before crossing to the east bank. The day ends at Karnak temple, where the processional avenue, massive columns and sacred precincts show the scale of ancient Thebes. We finish at Luxor temple, whose courtyards and statues are especially atmospheric as the light softens. After the visits, we arrange the transfer to the airport for the return flight to Cairo and overnight stay.

We travel to the Giza Plateau for the final major visit: the Pyramids of Giza. Your guide explains the role of the pyramid complex, the building methods used by ancient Egyptians and the different viewpoints around the plateau. The paths are open and can be dusty, so comfortable shoes, water and sun protection are useful. Interior access to a pyramid is subject to the ticket arrangement and site conditions.

We then see the Sphinx, carved from the limestone bedrock and positioned beside the ceremonial area of the plateau. Allow several hours for the visit, including time for photographs and the transfer between viewpoints. Afterward, we take you for a meal or a short rest, depending on your departure schedule, before arranging the airport drop-off.
