Spend your second day at the resort with no transfers or sightseeing on the schedule. The all-inclusive arrangement makes the day straightforward: meals, refreshments and time to use the resort facilities are arranged in one place. You can choose between a relaxed morning, time beside the pool or a walk along the coast, depending on your preferred pace.

Your third night remains at the Marsa Alam resort, giving you a final full day by the Red Sea before the Nile section begins. Enjoy the all-inclusive facilities, take a leisurely swim or simply keep the day free for reading and rest. If you plan to join an optional resort activity, allow enough time to return, pack and check the departure arrangements.

Our team will confirm the next transfer details and help you prepare for the change from a coastal resort to a river vessel. Pack the items you will need during the transfer separately, including documents, medication, water and sun protection. Your main luggage can then be ready for collection as arranged, while the evening remains free at the resort.

After breakfast, leave Marsa Alam for the onward transfer to Aswan and the Nile cruise. The travel plan may involve a road transfer or a connecting journey, depending on the arrangements confirmed for your departure date. Our representative will coordinate the handover so you know where to go and when to expect the next stage.

On reaching Aswan, board the Royal Princess or a comparable Nile cruise vessel and complete the check-in formalities. Settle into your cabin, then take in the river views from the deck as the crew prepares for the voyage. This is the first of four cruise nights. You will have time to learn the ship layout, review the programme and enjoy dinner on board, with the evening focused on a calm start to the river section.

Begin with the overland excursion to Abu Simbel, usually arranged early so travellers can visit the temples before the strongest heat of the day. The two rock-cut temples were built during the reign of Ramesses II, with large seated figures guarding the entrance to the main temple. Inside, carved halls lead towards the sanctuary, while the smaller temple honours Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. Allow time to walk through both complexes and hear how the site was relocated during the creation of Lake Nasser.

Return to Aswan for the remaining sightseeing. Take a boat to the island sanctuary of Isis at Philae, then see the Aswan Dam construction marvel, which changed the river’s flow and created the reservoir. The visit ends at the unfinished obelisk, where tool marks show how ancient stoneworkers began shaping the granite before abandoning the piece. Return to the ship for your second night on board.

As the vessel sails north, watch the Nile landscape change from the upper river’s rocky edges to cultivated fields and date palms. The slow pace gives you time to sit on deck, speak with your guide about the day’s history and see village life along the banks. Meals are taken on board according to the cruise schedule.

Later, stop at Kom Ombo to view the sacred site dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Horus the Elder. The temple has an unusual double design, with parallel halls, courts and sanctuaries for the two deities. Your guide will point out the carved reliefs and the nearby crocodile museum, when open. Rejoin the ship after the visit and continue sailing towards the next stop, spending your third cruise night on board.

Visit Edfu during the morning, when the temple’s towering entrance and enclosed courts provide a clear sense of its scale. A local transfer takes you from the docking area to the site, where you can see the well-preserved monuments dedicated to Horus. The reliefs show the god’s battles and the rituals once performed by the temple priests. Your guide explains the layout as you move from the pylon through the courts and into the darker inner rooms.

Return to the ship and continue towards Luxor, with the river scenery unfolding beside the deck. Use the sailing time to rest, have lunch and organise your belongings for disembarkation. By evening, the vessel reaches the Luxor area, where you spend your fourth and final cruise night. The next day’s visits begin after leaving the ship.

After breakfast, disembark and cross to Luxor’s West Bank for the Valley of the Kings royal tombs. Walk into the open tombs included with your entry and follow the painted corridors towards the burial chambers, while your guide explains the beliefs behind the scenes and inscriptions. Conditions inside can be warm, so comfortable shoes, water and modest clothing are useful. Tomb access can vary, and some require a separate ticket.

Continue to the east bank for Luxor’s ancient complex, including Luxor Temple, where columns, statues and later additions show how the site changed over time. Finish at Karnak’s magnificent temples, walking through the Great Hypostyle Hall and its forest of carved columns.
