Description

This 4-day Egypt highlights tour from Hurghada brings the country’s major ancient sights into one planned itinerary, with the flights, transfers and guides arranged for you. In Cairo, you start at The Pyramids of Giza, walking around the plateau to take in the scale of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. Nearby, The Sphinx faces the pyramids from its lower enclosure. Your guide explains the site’s layout, symbolism and changing role through Egyptian history.

Your Cairo visit also includes The Egyptian Museum, whose collection spans thousands of years of Egyptian history. Statues, funerary objects, jewellery and royal pieces add context to the monuments you see later in Aswan and Luxor. A licensed guide helps you focus on the key rooms instead of trying to cover every object in a single visit.

After Cairo, we arrange your flight to Aswan and continue the southern part of the trip at a steadier pace. You spend the night at Basma Hotel, with a comfortable base before the early visit to Abu Simbel temples. The drive is long, but it brings you close to the rock-cut temples built by Ramses II. Large seated figures guard the entrance, while the halls and sanctuaries carry scenes of the king and the gods. Your guide explains the temples’ construction, religious purpose and relocation during the building of the High Dam.

Back in Aswan, you visit The High Dam and Phiala Temple on Phiala Island. The dam changed the relationship between the Nile, agriculture and nearby settlements. Phiala Temple, also commonly written as Philae, was moved to higher ground to protect it from rising water. A boat takes you across for the temple visit, followed by time to see its courtyards, columns and reliefs dedicated to Isis.

The drive to Luxor follows the Nile Valley, linking the southern temples with the royal monuments on Luxor’s west bank. At the Valley of Kings, you enter selected open tombs and follow painted corridors made for the afterlife. Scenes, symbols and inscriptions remain on the walls, making this a closer look at the tombs than a simple viewpoint stop. Access to individual tombs can vary, so your guide explains what is open that day.

You also visit Queen Hatshepsut temple, built against the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, and The Colossi of Memnon, two huge seated statues beside the road across the west bank. On Luxor’s east bank, Karnak covers the widest temple setting of the tour, with pylons, processional avenues, the Great Hypostyle Hall and building layers from different reigns. The visit order may change with opening hours, traffic and the flight schedule.

  • See The Pyramids of Giza and The Sphinx with a guide in Cairo
  • Visit The Egyptian Museum before flying south to Aswan
  • Travel to Abu Simbel temples and explore Aswan’s High Dam and Phiala Temple
  • Continue to the Valley of Kings, Karnak, Queen Hatshepsut temple and The Colossi of Memnon

This organised trip suits travellers who want a concentrated introduction to ancient Egypt and are comfortable with early starts, a domestic flight and several road journeys. It is less suitable if you want long free periods at each site or a slow Nile cruise. Our team coordinates the airport transfer, road transport, sightseeing order and local guidance, leaving you to focus on the monuments rather than the connections between cities. Wear practical shoes, carry water during visits and keep your passport ready for the domestic flight and hotel check-in.

Your Itinerary

Our team collects you in Hurghada for the transfer to the airport and your flight to Cairo. Once you arrive, your guide takes you to the Giza plateau, where you see The Pyramids of Giza and learn how the royal tombs were planned, built and used. You then walk towards The Sphinx, whose lion body and human head face the pyramid field.

After lunch, continue to The Egyptian Museum for a guided visit among statues, jewellery, coffins and objects from different periods of ancient Egyptian history. The exact order inside the museum can vary with gallery access and the pace of the group.

Later, transfer to Cairo airport for the domestic flight to Aswan. After landing, our representative takes you to your accommodation, including the planned overnight at Basma Hotel. This is a full travel day, so comfortable shoes, a small day bag and access to drinking water will make the transfers easier.

The day begins with an early road transfer from Aswan to Abu Simbel temples. The journey takes several hours each way, but the large rock-cut sanctuaries make the trip worthwhile. At the site, your guide explains the reign of Ramses II, the four seated royal figures on the main façade and the smaller temple connected with Queen Nefertari. Allow time to walk around the courtyards and inspect the reliefs before returning to Aswan.

Back in the city, visit The High Dam to see the structure that changed water management and electricity production along the Nile. Continue to the boat transfer for Phiala Temple on Agilkia Island. The temple complex was moved to higher ground during the dam project, and its courtyards, columns and reliefs remain closely linked to the worship of Isis.

After the Aswan visits, begin the road journey north to Luxor. The transfer takes several hours, so the evening is reserved for arrival, check-in and rest.

Your guide starts the Luxor visit on the west bank, where you enter the Valley of Kings. Paths lead into selected royal tombs cut into the hills, with painted scenes and inscriptions that describe the ancient journey after death. Tomb access can change, and your guide will explain which chambers are open on the day.

Continue to Queen Hatshepsut temple, built in terraces against the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari. Its broad approach, colonnades and surviving reliefs introduce the reign of one of Egypt’s most important female pharaohs. Nearby, pause at The Colossi of Memnon, two large seated statues that once guarded the entrance to a long-vanished temple.

Cross to the east bank for Karnak, where the huge columned halls, obelisks and processional spaces show how the temple expanded over many centuries. The visit involves walking across uneven stone surfaces and open courtyards, so a hat, comfortable shoes and water are useful. After sightseeing, return to your accommodation for the evening.

After breakfast, check out and meet our team for the road transfer from Luxor to Hurghada. The journey crosses the Eastern Desert and takes several hours, with a route that connects the Nile Valley to the Red Sea coast. Keep your passport, travel documents and essential medication in your hand luggage rather than in a stored suitcase.

The timing of the departure depends on the agreed transport arrangements and the location of your Hurghada drop-off. If you have a flight, ferry connection or separate hotel booking, share those details with us in advance so the transfer plan can allow suitable travel time.

This final day is kept for the return journey rather than additional sightseeing. On arrival in Hurghada, our driver drops you at your hotel or another confirmed address, completing the four-day Egypt highlights trip.

Keep your passport or accepted identification with you for the domestic flight, along with a small day bag and phone charger. Clothing layers help when temperatures change between air-conditioned transport and outdoor sightseeing.
