Description

Our three-day Cairo tour from Hurghada by private vehicle gives you time to visit Egypt’s major ancient and Islamic sights without squeezing the capital into one rushed excursion. We travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, arrange two nights in Cairo and organise the sightseeing with a guide, so the long road transfer fits into one clear plan.

The Pyramids of Giza are the main focus for many travellers, and the site is best seen at an unhurried pace. From the plateau, you can view the three great pyramids, walk closer to the stonework and look across the desert towards Cairo. Below the pyramids, the Sphinx has a lion’s body and a human head carved from the rock. Your guide can explain how the site was used and help you make sense of the layout before you continue through the city.

The ancient sites continue south of Giza at Sakkara, where the Step Pyramid of Djoser rises from the desert necropolis. Its layered design shows an important stage in the development of pyramid building. At nearby Memphis, the former capital of ancient Egypt, you can see the remains of the old city and the large statue of Ramesses II. Dahshour provides a quieter contrast, with the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid set across a less crowded desert landscape.

Inside Cairo, the Egyptian Museum puts the outdoor sites into context. Its galleries hold statues, coffins, jewellery and other objects from several periods of Egyptian history. A steady pace works best here, with your guide highlighting pieces that connect the collection to Giza, Sakkara, Memphis and Dahshour.

The tour also visits Cairo’s historic Islamic quarter. At the Citadel of Saladin, you can look across the city from the fortified hill and visit the mosque complex within the site. In Old Cairo, churches and historic streets reflect the city’s earlier Christian and Islamic communities. A walk through the Khan el Khalil bazaar brings the day into a more local setting, with small shops selling spices, metalwork, lamps and souvenirs. The lanes can be uneven and crowded, so comfortable shoes are useful.

  • The Pyramids of Giza and The Sphinx
  • Sakkara and the Step Pyramid
  • Memphis and Dahshour, including the Bent and Red Pyramids
  • The Egyptian Museum, the Citadel of Saladin and Old Cairo
  • Khan el Khalil bazaar and two nights in Cairo

As the vehicle and sightseeing arrangements are private, the pace can be adjusted around your group within the planned programme. This suits travellers who want to combine the main archaeological sites with Cairo’s historic districts while keeping the transfers, guidance and hotel arrangements together. The trip involves long road journeys, and the archaeological areas include uneven ground, steps and exposed surfaces. Families can take part, though young children may need regular breaks.

We arrange pickup in Hurghada, the private transfer to Cairo and the return journey, with the sightseeing arranged to make practical use of your time in the capital. Accommodation is arranged for two nights in Cairo, while meals and optional activities depend on the booking details selected. Bring your passport, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and a small bag for each day; your guide will confirm the meeting points and timings during the tour.

Your Itinerary

Your private vehicle collects you in Hurghada for the drive to Cairo. The journey takes several hours, with a comfort stop along the way, so we recommend travelling with water, a light breakfast and comfortable clothing. On arrival, our guide takes you to The Pyramids of Giza, where you see the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and hear how the plateau was planned as a royal burial complex.

You then walk across the plateau to The Sphinx, whose human-headed, lion-bodied form faces the pyramid area. Your guide explains the main viewpoints and helps you allow time for photographs without rushing between the sites. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to the Egyptian Museum to see its wide collection of pharaonic statues, jewellery, coffins and everyday objects.

After the museum, we transfer you to your Cairo hotel for check-in and two nights' accommodation. The evening is free to rest after the road journey or have dinner near the hotel.

After breakfast, the tour moves south of Cairo to Sakkara, the ancient necropolis of Memphis. Here you visit the Step Pyramids, including Djoser's monument, which introduced a new stage in pyramid building through its stacked limestone levels. The surrounding complex includes courtyards, walls and decorated tombs, and your guide explains how the site developed over many centuries.

Continue to Memphis, the former capital of ancient Egypt. The open-air museum contains important remains from the old city, including the large limestone statue of Ramesses II and a colossal figure displayed in a covered museum. The visit gives useful context before the final pyramid area of the day.

At Dahshour, also written Dahshour, you see the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. Their different shapes show how builders adjusted their methods as pyramid construction developed. The grounds are quieter and more open than Giza, so expect some walking over uneven sand. We return to Cairo after the visits, leaving the evening free at your hotel.

After breakfast and hotel check-out, begin the final Cairo sightseeing day at The Citadel of Saladin. The hilltop fortress has broad views across the city, and the visit includes the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, known for its large domes and open interior. Modest clothing is required, and your guide will explain the entry arrangements before you go inside.

Continue to Old Cairo, an area with early churches, historic lanes and buildings connected with the city's Christian and Islamic history. The pace is steady, with time to listen to your guide and take photographs where permitted. You then walk through the Khan el Khalil bazaar, where small shops sell spices, metalwork, textiles and souvenirs. The market has uneven paving and narrow passages, so comfortable shoes are useful.

After lunch, we begin the private transfer back to Hurghada. The drive takes several hours, and we can arrange comfort stops during the journey. Your tour ends with drop-off at your Hurghada accommodation.

Entrance fees, meals, and guide arrangements depend on the selected package, so check the inclusions shown during booking before you confirm your tour.

The Cairo tour from Hurghada lasts three days and includes two nights in Cairo, with the first and final days shaped by the road transfer between the Red Sea coast and the capital.

Sightseeing is spread across the three days: the Giza plateau and the Egyptian Museum are usually paired with the main Cairo visits, while Sakkara, the Step Pyramids, Memphis, and Dahshour need time for walking between separate sites. Your private itinerary can be paced with rest stops where practical.

Pickup for this private Cairo tour is arranged from your Hurghada accommodation, followed by a direct road transfer in a private vehicle to Cairo and a return transfer after the sightseeing programme.

We confirm the pickup details and meeting point with you before the tour. Keep your booking information and a reachable phone number available on the travel day, as transfer arrangements can depend on your accommodation and local road conditions.

This private three-day Cairo tour can suit families with children, while travellers with limited mobility should discuss their needs with our team before booking because several sites have uneven ground, steps, and extended outdoor walking.

The Pyramids of Giza, The Sphinx, Sakkara, and Dahshour involve open areas and walking over sandy or uneven surfaces; The Citadel of Saladin and Old Cairo can also include steps. A private vehicle makes rest breaks and a slower pace easier to arrange, but it cannot remove every site restriction.

Wear light, modest clothing and comfortable closed shoes for this Cairo tour from Hurghada, and bring sun protection, drinking water, any required medication, and your passport or identification documents.

A hat and sunglasses help at the Giza plateau, Sakkara, and Dahshour, where shade can be limited. Carry a small day bag for the Egyptian Museum, The Citadel of Saladin, and the Khan el Khalil bazaar, and bring a light layer for the vehicle or evening in Cairo.

You can request this three-day tour to Cairo from Hurghada online by selecting your preferred date and providing the pickup and traveller details requested on the booking form.

Cancellation and amendment terms depend on the booking conditions displayed for your selected package. Read those terms before payment, especially if your plans may change, and contact our team as soon as possible if you need to alter or cancel the reservation.
