Sataya (sometimes spelled Satayh) is a remote, oval-shaped coral reef in the Hamata area, roughly 100 km south of Marsa Alam. A resident school of 60–80 spinner dolphins calls it home, offering a rare opportunity to snorkel alongside them.
Expect roughly 1.5 to 2 hours each way between Hamata harbour and Sataya Reef. Hamata Harbour itself lies about 130 km south of Marsa Alam, reached by private vehicle. The whole day trip runs approximately 10–12 hours.
The private trip reserves the entire boat for your group, letting you dictate the pace and enjoy more room and a personal atmosphere. The shared trip (tour 69) puts you on a group boat with other travelers at a lower price.
Masks and fins are included in the tour price, and lunch plus refreshments are served on board. Bringing sunscreen, a towel, and a change of clothes is wise, since you'll spend a good deal of time in and around the water.
