Housing a priceless collection spanning 5,000 years of art, it stands as the world's greatest repository of ancient Egyptian heritage. More than 250,000 authentic pieces are on display, among them a celebrated exhibit showcasing the treasures, gold, and jewellery from Tutankhamen's tomb — objects sealed away for over 3,500 years until their discovery in the 1920s.
Should you wish to visit the royal mummies hall, ask your guide to arrange a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which requires a separate admission fee of 200 Egyptian Pounds. Note that the New Grand Museum has not yet opened to the public and is expected to welcome visitors towards the end of 2021 or in 2022.
