1) Day 1: Marsa Alam - Cairo
A transfer collects you from your hotel at 00:00 by air-conditioned car from Marsa Alam to Hurghada airport. You will fly from Hurghada , a drive of roughly 2 hours 30 minutes to Hurghada airport from Marsa Alam . Your flight departs at 05:00 from Hurghada , landing in Cairo at 06:30 after a 1-hour flight, where your tour guide meets you for the Cairo leg of the trip, starting at Giza with the Pyramids of Giza ( Cheops , Chephren, and Mykerinus ), followed by the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple . Lunch is served near the Pyramids at a local Giza restaurant, then it's on to the Egyptian Museum , the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Tahrir, showcasing a rare collection of over 250,000 genuine artifacts dating back 5000 years, including an exclusive Tutankhamen exhibit — treasure, gold, and jewelry buried with him for over 3,500 years until their discovery in 1920. Should you wish to visit the mummies royal hall, ask your tour guide about the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization for an added cost of 25 $ per person. Note that the new Grand museum has not yet opened, with an anticipated opening in 2023. Overnight in Cairo
2) Day 2: Cairo to the White Desert
Pickup at 06:00 am from your hotel in Giza or Cairo , driving to Bahariya Oasis , roughly 350 km east of Cairo, a journey of about 4 hours. In earlier times, people of Bahariya wishing to reach the Nile valley would often wait for a passing caravan, taking three days to cross between the Nile and the oasis (how fortunate we are today!). Two coffee breaks are built into the drive. On the right you'll spot railways carrying iron ore deposits to the steel mill at Helwan — of no real interest to tourists, but a reminder that Bahariya oasis is Egypt's main source of iron ore, drawn from middle Eocene limestone at 4 sites known as Managim. At 10:00 you'll reach Baharyia oasis, meet your safari guide, and set off in your 4x4 Jeep.
Drive on to the black desert , named for the layer of black powder coating its mountains, highlands, and sand, which blankets the summits of several peaks
Lunch at 12:00 is served in El Haize oasis, 37 km from Bawiti — some consider it a separate oasis in its own right. Prosperous under Roman rule, many of today's families here trace their roots to Libya. Before lunch you can soak in a hot water spring that relieves stress almost instantly, as the heat coaxes tense muscles to loosen and brings on a sense of calm and well-being.
A local museum (the water museum) explains how vital underground water has always been for the desert's people, along with the tools Egyptians used to raise it for irrigation. At 13:00 you'll drive on to the valley of Agabat , arriving at 14:00 deep within the white desert . You truly need to stand here to feel this place's otherworldly beauty. Millions of years ago it lay beneath the sea, and over time unique limestone, chalk, and possibly sand formations took shape.
From here you'll venture deeper by Jeep 4x4 to discover Wadi el Agabat and enjoy some sandboarding -
At 16:30 you'll explore the white desert National Park, Egypt's best-known desert destination, home to hundreds of formations, each recalling something familiar — a chicken, a sphinx, camels, tents, mushrooms
The chicken-shaped rock
At 17:30 tents go up and you'll enjoy the sunset; by 18:30, as the sky shifts from pink to a deep fiery orange, the rock silhouettes fade and silence settles in. Gathered around a small fire over a simple meal of chicken, rice, and vegetables, you'll swear nothing has ever tasted better. The Bedouin staff handle dinner and desert camping (vegetarian options available). Note: night temperatures can drop sharply in the White Desert, so a proper jacket is worth packing for comfort — but don't worry, we supply all camping gear, including sleeping bags, tents, and mattresses
3) Day 3: The White Desert to Cairo
At 06:00 am, take in the sunrise
At 07:00 am breakfast is served in the desert before driving toward Bahariya Oasis. At 09:00, on the way back, you'll visit Crystal Mountain , known locally as Gebel al-Izzaz. Crystal Mountain is more of a crystal hill than a mountain, visible on the right and often nicknamed the Jewel of the desert, it's formed of quartzite crystals that catch the sunlight beautifully. This natural feature was stumbled upon by chance only a few decades ago.
4) Day 4: Luxor to Marsa Alam
An optional balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings is available for 85 $ per person; we'll pick you up from your hotel in Luxor to visit Karnak Temple, arguably Egypt's most impressive site: no site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak - the largest temple complex ever raised by human hands, combining the efforts of many generations of ancient builders and pharaohs. The Karnak Temple is actually three main temples, along with smaller enclosed temples and several outer temples spread across 247 acres. Lunch follows at a local restaurant in Luxor , then a motorboat crossing of the Nile brings you to the Valley of Kings , final resting place of Egypt's rulers from the 18th to 20th dynasty, home to tombs including the great pharaoh Ramses II and boy pharaoh Tutankhamen — well stocked with everything a ruler might need in the afterlife, most of the tomb decoration is still remarkably preserved. Hatshepsut Temple ranks among the most beautiful and best-preserved of all Ancient Egyptian temples, built across three levels joined by two wide central ramps. The Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of king Amenhotep III, are the only remains of what was once a complete mortuary temple, carved from quartzite sandstone quarried in Cairo and hauled 700 KM to Luxor .
Once your Luxor tour concludes, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Marsa Alam , arriving at 18:30
