Dolphin House (Sha'ab El Erg) is a coral reef area in the Red Sea approximately 30 km from Hurghada, famous for hosting a resident pod of spinner dolphins that inhabit the reef year-round. It is one of the very few places in the world where wild dolphins regularly interact with snorkellers and swimmers in their natural surroundings.
Dolphin House is one of the most reliable dolphin-encounter sites in Egypt, yet sightings cannot be 100% guaranteed as these are wild animals. That said, dolphins are spotted on the great majority of visits. Interaction is natural and respectful — you snorkel in their vicinity rather than chasing or touching them.
Responsible guidelines must be followed: do not chase, touch, or separate dolphins from their pod. Only reef-safe (biodegradable) sunscreen is permitted to protect the reef ecosystem. Motorised watercraft must keep a safe distance. These rules ensure the dolphins remain comfortable and the encounter stays natural.
Dolphin House lies approximately 30 km north of Hurghada in the Red Sea. The tour starts with a hotel pick-up transfer to the marina, followed by a boat journey of around 1 to 1.5 hours to the reef. The boat is a comfortable day-trip vessel with shaded seating, a sun deck, and toilet facilities.

1) Swimming with dolphins near Sahel
After pick-up from your Sahel hotel, transfer to the pier and set sail for the renowned Dolphin House area, where a large resident pod of dolphins lives in their natural environment. Spend roughly 1.5 hours on deck sunbathing as you make your way there. At Dolphin House, if nature obliges, you will witness dozens of dolphins leaping and swimming alongside your boat. Weather permitting, you can jump in and swim with them — experiencing these creatures in their true habitat, far from any artificial pool. Observe two or three dolphins playing in the sea, curiously approaching the snorkellers. At the top of the feeding hour, enjoy an on-board buffet lunch and some more dolphin sightings. You will then enjoy two additional snorkelling stops at other sites along the route.
