Its outer structure is much less complete, but the burial chamber has pyramid texts carved into the walls, among the earliest religious inscriptions linked to a royal burial.

The final ancient site is Memphis, the first capital of unified ancient Egypt and a major centre of administration, religion and craftsmanship. At the open-air museum, you see the Alabaster sphinx and the Colossi of Ramses the second, a huge fallen limestone statue associated with the king. These remains give a sense of Memphis’s scale, when temples and royal buildings stood close to the Nile’s former course.
