Set out after breakfast for Memphis, the ancient capital on the Nile floodplain. The route then reaches Dahshour, a quieter desert site known for pyramids that reveal the changing techniques used by ancient builders. In the afternoon, visit Old Cairo, a historic quarter with churches, narrow lanes and long layers of religious history. Continue uphill to the Mosque of Mohamed Ali inside the Citadel. Transfer to Cairo airport for your flight to Aswan. Abu Simbel was cut into the rock during the reign of Ramesses II. Inside, large statues and decorated chambers lead towards the sanctuaries, while the nearby temple of Nefertari has its own carefully carved figures. Return to Aswan and visit Phiala temple on an island reached by boat. The short crossing adds a clear change of setting after the desert road, and the temple’s reliefs show several periods of Egyptian religious history. Check in and spend the evening beside the Nile.

After breakfast, leave Aswan by road for Luxor. The journey follows the Nile Valley, passing farming villages, fields and stretches of desert. Cross to Luxor’s west bank and enter the Valley of the Kings, where royal tombs were cut into the limestone hills. Jerash is spread across open ground, with stone paving that can be uneven underfoot. Comfortable shoes and sun protection make the visit easier, particularly in the warmer months. Leave the desert after breakfast and travel north towards the Dead Sea. The route passes through dry hills and changing elevations before reaching the low shoreline. On arrival, you have time to enjoy the water and the mineral-rich mud areas available at the arranged bathing facility.

Floating requires care rather than swimming: enter slowly, avoid splashing water near your eyes, and do not shave immediately before the visit because salt can sting sensitive skin.
